Downtown Wayne Clock Temporarily Steps Away for a Major Upgrade! 🕰️✨

If you’ve walked past the corner of 100 East Lancaster Avenue recently, you might have noticed something missing! On Tuesday, Radnor Township Public Works staff successfully removed the iconic Township Clock to send it off for a much-deserved restoration.

Thanks to a recent approval by the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners, this beloved downtown Wayne landmark is undergoing significant internal upgrades. This vital maintenance will ensure its longevity, keeping time for residents and visitors for years to come!

What’s next for the clock?

• 🛠️ Expert Hands: The clock will reside with clock master Bob Desrochers for the remainder of the year and into the spring of 2027.

• ⚙️ The Upgrades: It will receive comprehensive internal mechanism improvements to ensure it ticks flawlessly for decades to come.

• 🏡 The Return: It will be beautifully reinstalled in its rightful home downtown in Spring 2027—just in time to welcome the new season!

Wayne Commons is coming to downtown Wayne in Spring 2027! 🌳✨

Approved by the Board of Commissioners with a Phase 1 budget of $155,000, this project transforms 24 parking spaces of the North Wayne Avenue municipal lot into a premier pedestrian plaza. Guided by the "A Vision for Wayne" master plan, the initiative delivers on the campaign slogan: "More Space for the Community."

Here is what Downtown Wayne visitors can look forward to next Spring:

• 🪑 Outdoor Living Room: Completely renovated and level park space featuring decorative planters, public seating, entryway signage, and retractable safety bollards.

• 🚶 Traffic Calming & Safety: Moving community space to the curb eliminates vehicle turn movements across the sidewalk onto N. Wayne Avenue and naturally slows down traffic.

• 🛍️ Economic Vitality: Placemaking studies show pedestrian plazas increase foot traffic and "dwell time," bringing more customers directly to our independent Radnor Township merchants.

🚧 What about parking? Downtown Wayne features over 300 municipal lot spaces, including the West Avenue Parking Lot (108 spaces) and South Wayne Avenue Parking Lot (55 spaces). With digital pay-by-plate and ParkMobile integration, visiting downtown remains convenient and accessible.

Phase 1 sets the stage for a future Phase 2, which will bring permanent custom architecture, utility upgrades, and green stormwater management.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for late winter, followed by a formal ribbon-cutting in Spring 2027! To maintain open dialogue throughout the construction cycle, Radnor Township is excited to provide updates on its website and social media platforms.

🌿 STREAM RESTORATION STARTS TODAY!

The Radnor Township Shade Tree Commission has officially begun its riparian buffer repair project at Warren Filipone Park and The Willows Park!

👷‍♂️ Work Schedule:
• Days: Monday through Friday (This Week)
• Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily

🌱 What’s Happening:
Our crews are clearing away choking invasive plants along the creek beds. At Filipone Park, this work protects and frees our newly planted native trees. At The Willows Park, crews are preparing the stream banks for an upcoming installation of over 200 native trees and shrubs to prevent erosion and mitigate flooding.

⚠️ Safety First:
We kindly ask all residents, dog walkers, and park visitors to stay completely clear of the active work zones along the creeks for your safety and the safety of the crews.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to build a healthier, more sustainable watershed ecosystem for Radnor Township!
