🦅 Falcon Friday: Meet Mrs. Vanessa Becskehazy!

Mrs. B first joined the Shining Rock community as a substitute teacher in March 2025 and became a full-time teacher later that year. She loves the close-knit community at SRCA and the way our staff works together toward shared goals.

💙 What She Loves About Shining Rock:
Mrs. B appreciates SRCA’s focus on supporting the whole child and says she’s especially grateful to teach such an amazing group of students.

📚 Favorite Book: The Giver by Lois Lowry. She loves stories that make her think about society and the choices we make. The movie version, though? Mrs. B has some thoughts. 😂 She says they could have done much better!

🇫🇷🐶 Fun Facts: Mrs. B grew up in France—and if you hear students talking about “the teacher with the dog,” you’ve found her!

We’re so glad Mrs. B found her way from substitute teaching to her own classroom at Shining Rock. Thank you for all you do to help our Falcons learn, grow, and feel supported! 💙

🧩 Math is better when we solve it together!

Our 8th-grade Falcons kicked off their learning with math puzzles that put problem-solving, communication, and collaboration into action. Students worked together to test ideas, make adjustments, and find solutions—all while staying actively engaged in the process.

Activities like these remind students that math isn't just about getting the right answer. It's about thinking critically, persevering through challenges, and learning from one another.
