Yuma County Retention Basin Flood Control Project Update
As the Town of Wellton continues to assist with the Yuma County Retention Basin Flood Control Project, we would like to inform residents located in properties west of William Street: Pacific to Bakersfield that water service will be temporarily interrupted from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28.
This temporary shutdown is necessary so construction crews can safely complete infrastructure improvements.
In addition, Accurate Excavation has also notified the Town that an additional line lowering may be necessary on Fresno Street, and a temporary water interruption could occur on Tuesday, July 28 from 8:00 to 12:00. and could potentially affect the following three properties:
• Sun Country West
• The Wellton Museum
• The Church located on the southwest corner of Fresno Street and San Jose Avenue
However, to help reduce these additional three properties from being affected, the Town's Water Department will be conducting valve inspections/repair work on Monday, July 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This work is intended to isolate the construction area and minimize the overall impact of Tuesday's scheduled shutdown.
The Town understands that a temporary loss of water service can be burdensome, and we sincerely apologize for the disruption. We recognize these necessary improvements may create challenges for our residents and businesses, and we greatly appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as this important work continues. We have been advised that after next week there will be very limited if any further water interruptions moving forward.
The Town of Wellton will continue to keep the community informed as work progresses and thanks to everyone for their continued support and understanding.
