🍳☕ OUR TEAM TOGETHER WE MAKE IT HAPPEN!💙

This week, we took a little time to gather around the table and celebrate the people who help keep the Town of Wellton moving forward every day OUR TEAM!

Our TEAM Breakfast was about more than biscuits and gravy, eggs, fruit, machaca con papas, and some delicious breakfast burritos. It was about saying THANK YOU to the employees who serve our community, support one another, and bring their talents and dedication to work each day.

From Town Hall to Public Works, Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation, Coyote Wash, Butterfield Golf every department in between each person plays an important role in making Wellton the community we are proud to call home.

We may work in different departments and have different responsibilities, but at the end of the day, we are ONE TEAM serving ONE COMMUNITY.

💙 Our Team. Our Town. Our Wellton.

🐾 WE ARE SO PROUD OF OUR K9 UNIT! 💙

The Town of Wellton is incredibly proud of the outstanding work of our Wellton Police Department K9 Unit and the important role they play in protecting not only our community, but communities across Arizona.

On Tuesday evening, our officers assisted the Arizona Department of Public Safety on Interstate 8 after AZDPS requested assistance from our K9 Unit. That teamwork resulted in the seizure of approximately 70 pounds of fentanyl.

This is an incredible example of what can happen when law enforcement agencies work together. Our K9 Unit is a valuable resource, and moments like this demonstrate the training, dedication, and commitment that our officers and K9 bring to the job every day.

To our K9 and the officers who serve alongside them WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!🐾💙 Thank you for your hard work, vigilance, and commitment to keeping our communities safe.

And thank you to AZDPS for the partnership and teamwork.

Wellton Mighty in Spirit.
Together We Make It Happen! 💙🐾🇺🇸

WPD said the seizure happened on the eastbound lane of Interstate 8 Tuesday at around 8 p.m. after AZDPS requesting their help for a "K9 narcotics sniff."

COMMUNITY INFORMATION MEETING

Proposition 438 – Permanent Base Adjustment

The Town of Wellton invites residents and community members to attend a Community Information Meeting regarding Proposition 438 – Permanent Base Adjustment.

Wednesday, September 30, 2026
6:00PM Wellton Town Council Chambers 28634 Oakland Avenue, Wellton, AZ

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community with information about Proposition 438, explain Arizona’s state-imposed expenditure limitation and the proposed Permanent Base Adjustment, and provide residents an opportunity to ask questions
The Town wants residents to have an opportunity to understand the proposal before voting. Town representatives will provide information about:

• How Arizona’s expenditure limitation works
• Wellton’s current expenditure limitation
• How a Permanent Base Adjustment works
• The proposed adjustment for Wellton
• What approval or non-approval would mean for future Town budgets and services
• Questions from members of the community

So, what is Proposition 438?

Arizona limits how much cities and towns are allowed to spend each year. That limit is based on a formula that goes all the way back to 1979–1980. A lot has changed since then.
Wellton has grown, costs have increased, and the Town provides services and operates facilities that were not part of the community more than 45 years ago.
Proposition 438 asks Wellton voters whether the Town’s spending based on available revenue to address community needs.

Does Proposition 438 raise my taxes?
No.
Proposition 438 does not create a new tax.

It addresses how much of the Town’s available revenue may be spent under Arizona’s expenditure-limit rules.

What if it does not pass?

If it is not approved, the Town will be operating under the state-imposed expenditure limitation causing the potential reduction or elimination of vital public services such as: police, fire and public works.

What if it passes?

If approved, the Town would operate using the adjusted base when calculating its future expenditure limits.
This would allow the Town greater ability to use available revenues through the normal budgeting process to provide Town services and operations.

Have questions? Come ask us.

We want our residents to understand what Proposition 438 is, what it does, and what it does not do.

Join us on September 30 to learn more, ask questions, and get the information you need before Election Day.

COME LEARN. ASK QUESTIONS. GET INFORMED.

When disaster strikes, knowing where to turn can make a difficult situation a little easier. In the latest edition of Wellton Spirit Update, Town Manager Richard Marsh sits down with Ellen Israel from the SBA’s Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience to talk about the low-interest disaster loans available to businesses, nonprofits, homeowners and renters following qualifying disasters.

From who can apply and how much funding may be available to how long the process can take, Ellen walks us through the basics and shares how applicants can receive one-on-one assistance.

It’s a resource we hope you never need, but it’s valuable information to have before you do. Watch the full conversation to learn more at https://youtu.be/eOIzF5758yQ.

💙 A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Team! 💙

The Town of Wellton would like to recognize and thank our Public Works Team for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to providing the essential services our residents depend on every day.

Much of what Public Works does happens behind the scenes, but their work touches nearly every part of our community. From maintaining our streets and water systems to sanitation, infrastructure, facilities, and responding when something needs immediate attention, their dedication helps keep Wellton moving forward.

We also want to recognize Town Manager Richard Marsh for his leadership and continued commitment to supporting our employees, strengthening Town services, and working to ensure our community has the resources it needs to succeed.

A very special thank you also goes to our Grants Administrator, Terri Barriga, for her tremendous work in identifying and securing grant funding for the Town. Her efforts help make important projects, equipment purchases, and community improvements possible while allowing us to make the most of our local resources.

It truly takes a team. Every project completed, every service provided, and every improvement made represents people working together for the community we proudly serve.

Thank you, Richard, Terri, and our entire Public Works Team, for your hard work, commitment, and dedication to the Town of Wellton and its residents.
