đźš” Tomorrow's Mission:

Operation "Slow Your Roll" 🛑It’s that time of year again. The yellow buses are back, backpacks are heavier than the kids wearing them, and school zones go live starting tomorrow morning. We know you’ve spent all summer driving at normal speeds, but tomorrow morning requires a major vibe shift. Please leave five minutes early so you aren't tempted to treat the elementary drop-off lane like a NASCAR qualifying lap.

A few friendly reminders from your local officers:The Magic Number: If the big white sign says 20 MPH. That is a speed limit, not a golf score or a suggestion. The "No-Phone" Zone: TikTok can wait. That text can wait. Even your morning coffee crisis can wait. Keep both hands on the wheel and eyes on the crosswalks. The Laws of Physics: A soccer ball rolls out. A tiny human follows it. Your car cannot stop on a dime if you are doing 45 in a 20.

Our officers will be out tomorrow morning greeting the kids and handing out very expensive, custom-printed paper souvenirs to anyone who forgets where they are.

Let’s keep the kids safe and your wallet full. See you out there (at a very reasonable speed)! 🚌🎒

Please be aware of a scam that some of our citizens are reporting.

There are scammers who have been calling local residents impersonating Police Officers and claiming to be with WCPD. If you receive a suspicious phone call asking you to give any type of money or information please do not give out ANY information. We will never ask a citizen to go to the bank to withdraw cash to meet for exchange, or pay us over the phone with giftcards, this is just NOT something Police Departments do.

Stay cautious and when in doubt hang up and call 979-345-5121 for non emergencies and 911 for emergencies

Just a quick reminder!
Emergency Siren test schedule

The first Saturday of every month at noon we test the fire notification tone. The second Saturday of every month at noon will be severe weather tone. The third Saturday of every month at noon will be all clear tone.

The most common siren is the fire notification tone. WCVFD service area is more than just the city of West Columbia. They also service the surrounding area into County jurisdiction as well as assisting the other fire departments WCPD dispatch’s for. This is the reason that tone is the most common you will hear.

Hope this information clears up any confusion regarding emergency sirens.
