It was an exciting evening at West Family Stadium as West Liberty University kicked off the 2026 football season! Before the game, we were honored to recognize members of the military and our first responders for their service to our communities.

The Hilltoppers came up just short against Walsh, 30–27, but the energy and excitement made for a great night. Thanks to everyone who came out to support our student-athletes!

West Liberty University Begins Fall Semester with Strong Enrollment and New Programs

West Liberty University began the fall 2026 semester Monday, Aug. 24, welcoming more than 550 new students and launching initiatives focused on experiential learning, career preparation and community engagement.

Among the programs beginning this fall is Hilltopper Pathways: Out of School Reentry and Support Program, funded by a $249,397 Momentum Initiative Grant from the West Virginia First Foundation.

WLU also will introduce the Professional Passport Program, a four-year personalized planning process designed to prepare students for careers and graduate study.

New academic offerings include the Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling, a Flex Track option for the Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Applied Science major. The undergraduate cybersecurity program is available fully online this fall.

West Liberty University Students Showcase Summer Research at TOPPER-SURE Symposium

Thirteen West Liberty University students presented original research spanning biology, ecology, wildlife conservation, microbiology, and biomedical sciences during the 2026 TOPPER-SURE (Training Opportunity for Pre-Professionals, Educators, and Researchers Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) Symposium, marking the culmination of the University’s nine-week Summer Undergraduate Research Experience.

Physician Assistant Graduates Receive 100% First-Time Pass Rate on National Certifying Exam

The graduates of the June 2026 Physician Assistant program at West Liberty University have achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE). The exam assesses clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning and other medical skills and professional behaviors that have been deemed important for entry-level practice as a PA.

West Liberty University Chi Omega Chapter Recognized at National Biennial Convention

Representatives from West Liberty University’s Nu Theta Chapter of Chi Omega recently attended the 66th Biennial Chi Omega Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, joining collegiate and alumnae members from chapters across the country for leadership development, organizational business, and recognition of chapter achievements.

During the convention, the Nu Theta Chapter was recognized with the Stash of Achievement Award, presented to chapters that increased their annual scorecard by 15 or more points compared to the previous evaluation period. The award recognizes the chapter’s continued growth and commitment to excellence.

West Liberty University has announced that students can now complete its Cybersecurity major 100% online. With this major, students develop the ability to identify vulnerabilities, respond to cyber incidents, and implement security solutions that protect organizational assets.

Dr. Clyde Campbell Memorial Service Update

Dr. Campbell's Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 17 at noon on the West Liberty University campus. Please note the following, including a change of location:

The service will be held in the Kelly Theatre in the Hall of Fine Arts, not in College Hall. The Fine Arts building is located next door to College Hall.

Parking is available throughout campus. Accessible parking is available between the College Union and Arnett Hall.

A reception will be held following the service in the College Union Ballroom.

We hope you can attend to pay tribute to Dr. Campbell and honor his legacy of leadership at West Liberty University.
