Foster Grandparent Program of Rhode Island FGP provides intergenerational opportunities for people 55 years and older interested in volunteering

The Foster Grandparent Program, sponsored by the West Warwick Senior Center, provides meaningful volunteer opportunities for people aged 55 and over. Volunteers would provide service in schools, child development centers, Head Starts throughout R.I. Those interested would need to meet certain criteria to participate in this federally funded program.

🍎 Teachers: Imagine having an extra caring adult in your classroom! ❤️ Specifically looking for a classroom on the Western side of Coventry open to hosting a classroom grandparent for the upcoming school year.

A Foster Grandparent volunteer can provide 15 hours of support each week, helping students build confidence, stay engaged, and succeed in the classroom.

Foster Grandparents do not replace or displace paid school staff. Instead, they serve as caring mentors who provide encouragement, one-on-one attention, and extra support under the teacher's direction.
