82 years ago today, Allied Forces landed on the beaches of Normandy, establishing a foothold that led to the liberation of France and the end of World War Two. We honor these extraordinarily brave heroes, and are forever indebted to them.

Proud to share that my bill to authorize Medicaid coverage for the complex care assistant program, to allow family members to be paid to provide care for their medically fragile children, has passed the Senate. Given the drastic shortage of private duty nurses, the CCA program will ensure that medically fragile children get the care they are legally entitled to and that their families are supported in the important work they do day in and day out.

Proud that my bill to establish a statewide supervised visitation initiative has passed the Senate. Much of New York lacks access to these critical services, and where they do exist, demand often exceeds capacity. New York must do better to protect children, support families, and ensure access to safe, court-ordered visitation statewide. Thank you to my former colleague, Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal for beginning this fight before leaving the Senate.

Pleased to share that last week the Senate and Assembly passed, and the Governor signed, the FY 2026-2027 New York State Budget. While I am disappointed by the lateness of the budget, it reflects the reality of a negotiated compromise that on balance serves our communities well.

To discuss the budget in greater detail and to answer your questions, I will be hosting a series of Town Halls over the next several weeks across Westchester. Please keep an eye out for when those dates are announced.

As I spoke on the Senate floor in recognition of Jewish American Heritage Month, I expressed the hope and joy of the traditions. By sharing and celebrating one another’s histories and cultures, we strengthen our communities and build greater understanding.

Delighted to join the Westchester County Historical Society for its 152nd Annual Meeting, and to help honor — along with State Senate Majority Leader Andrea-Stewart-Cousins — my friend Constance Kehoe. Constance is President of Revolutionary Westchester 250, and the recipient of the 2026 Sy Schulman History Award. Over the years, I have been so fortunate to work with her to ensure we properly celebrate the pivotal role of Westchester County in the American Revolution.
