Rwacof entered the Best of Rwanda competition this year and came away with four placements across two categories (!!) how awesome is that?!

🏆3rd and 5th place for Mugonero CWS and Kayumbu CWS in the Fully Washed category 🏆11th and 13th for Ngororero CWS and Kanyege CWS in the Natural

And and and... Gisele Rita Kayigema, our lab supervisor, was selected as one of the National cuppers for the competition 💚 Big congrats to the team, we're so proud!

Our QC teams say to***co, green tea and almond. Deep, rustic and unique. That character comes from giling basah, the wet-hulling method that gives Sumatra its unmistakable profile, and from producers in the Aceh Highlands who have farmed and traded this coffee for generations under the Mandailing name.

October is the perfect month for a little magic 🔮 and Embrujo's Witch 🧙‍♀️ and Wizard 🧙‍♂️ lots are arriving in New York and Oakland right on cue.

In July we visited our friend and partner Ignacio at Finca La Palmera in Caldas 🇨🇴 We walked the creek, saw the full operation firsthand and left wondering what's going to top a meal like that (swipe for proof!)

But enough about the food... at , Ignacio and his team run a microbiology lab, power processing entirely on solar, trial four different Geisha varieties side by side and employ many single mothers to hand-sort every cherry.

🔥For a long time the narrative about Robusta has been pretty limited. You know the drill: bitter, functional, not particularly inspiring. Still, that's changing and it's changing fast so we wanted to talk about it...

We sat down with the experts, Kristine Breminer Isgren and Walter Rossi, two of our QC managers and Q Graders from the UK and Geneva offices, to dig into the emerging picture of fine (or 'premium') Robusta.

The big spoiler: when it's grown, harvested and processed with the same care as specialty Arabica, the results can be surprising and come with a bag of yummy fruit, honey, vanilla, and caramel notes. And with processing methods like anaerobic fermentation, honey and yeast inoculation now being applied to Robusta just as they are with Arabica, roasters have more options than ever to experiment with.
