Williamston firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on Belton Highway this afternoon. Upon arrival the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters had to use foam to extinguish a subsequent gasoline fire after the fuel line burned in two spilling gas onto the ground. The driver managed to escape unharmed. Williamston police officers assisted with traffic.

They officially graduated from the 2026 SC Chief Fire Officer Class through the SC Fire Chief’s Association and were recognized today with their plaques at the 82nd Annual SC Fire Chiefs Conference in Myrtle Beach.
Thank you both for your hard work, dedication, and continued commitment to serving and protecting our community!

Special thanks to Calvary Baptist Church for the kind words, praying with our firefighters and providing a meal for our meeting last night. They also provided all our guys with challenge coins.

Williamston firefighters responded to a riding lawn mower fire this evening on Main Street. The rider was briefly pinned as it overturned and was able to self extricate before the mower caught fire. Firefighters initially used a water can to extinguish the fire. The grass truck responded and pulled into the backyard and a booster line was utilized. The homeowner was ok.

Williamston firefighters responded to a single vehicle wreck on West Main Street. A pickup truck left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital by Medshore ambulance service. A QRV also responded to the scene. Williamston police department is investigating.

06/20/2026

Williamston firefighters have been busy today with motor vehicle wrecks. The first happened on South Academy Street at the intersection of Gray Drive. A car left the roadway and struck an AT&T pole.
A couple of hours later a car struck a Duke Energy pole on West Main Street. Williamston police officers investigated both wrecks. Medshore and a QRV responded to both wrecks. Neither driver was transported to the hospital.
