Williston Community Library Williston Community Library's Official page Books and audio books (unless otherwise marked) can be checked out for three weeks.

We have new books, fiction, non-fiction, children's, young adult, large print, audio books, playaways, DVDs, faxing and scanning services, internet, printing, copying, newspapers, and magazines. DVDs can be checked out for one week. We have a book sale every day! This Institution is an Equal Opportunity Provider.

‼️HOLIDAY CLOSURE‼️

The Williston Community Library will be CLOSED Fri, July 3rd through Sun, July 5th in observance of Independence Day. We will reopen on Monday, July 6th at 9 AM.

While the physical library may be closed, our online services are available 24/7. To learn more, visit our website https://willistonndlibrary.com/online_services.php

The book drop will remain open for anyone needing to return library materials.

🌟WOW🌟 week two of our Summer Reading Program was just as 🦖DINO-mite🦕 as week one and we owe it all to our amazing special guests and, of course, all of YOU! ✨

Our second week of activities was made possible thanks to the Williams County ND Vector Control! We are so grateful that 🎉Mr. Hunter and his crew brought all kinds of fun for us last week. We learned all about 🦟mosquitos🦟 (did you know only girl mosquitos bite?), got to see some of their 🥚eggs🥚, and they helped us make our very own (non-biting) mosquitos to take home! Thank you so much for bringing fun and fun facts to our second week of Summer Reading activities! 📚

‼️Reminder: kids and teens/tweens can join us on Tuesday OR Thursday from ⏰ 3:30-4:30pm through July 🗓️ for our Summer Reading activities.☀️

Our Summer Reading Program is off to a 🦖ROAR-some 🦖 start and we’ve had so much fun hanging with you all the past two weeks! ✨

Our first week of activities was made possible thanks to the Fort Buford State Historic Site/Missouri Yellowstone Interpretive Center! We are so grateful that Mr. Nick brought all kinds of fun fossils 🛘 and artifacts ⚾️ for us to explore. We saw sloth claws 🦥 and dino bones 🦕🦴and 65 million year old poo, OH MY! We even learned the history of the Missouri-Yellowstone confluence 🏞️! Thank you so much for bringing fun and fun facts to our first week of Summer Reading activities! 📚

What Is Juneteenth? ❤️💛💚 The holiday commemorates the effective end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth, short for “June Nineteenth,” marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. 🎉 The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. A federal holiday since 2021, Juneteenth occurs on Friday, June 19, in 2026.
