I want to thank the over 100 participants who joined us virtually to discuss traffic safety improvements along Cedar Lane Rd and in the areas around it. We had a productive dialogue, good public feedback, and set up a follow up meeting with DelDot to discuss potential new ways forward. We are committed to ensuring we improve traffic safety on our roads.

In all, New Castle Councilman Kevin Caneco said last summer was “a boiling point” for residents who had seen repeated patterns of problems at the refinery.

“We can’t have this pattern of misconduct because it’s not a one-time incident and it continues to happen,” he told Spotlight Delaware.

The Delaware City refinery has appealed a nearly $1 million environmental fine that state regulators imposed earlier this year.

I stand with a broad coalition of bipartisan county legislators who think this bill is utter nonsense. They eliminated public hearings. Their basis? To create more “affordable housing”, more nonsense, it opens a loophole for more large subdivisions to be built with no public input. It was nothing but another sloppy Dover bill for a press release.

The Sussex County Council railed against Delaware’s new affordable housing law at its meeting Tuesday, saying it strips residents of their ability to comment on big new housing developments projects
