Heads Up, Wolverine Lake Residents!

Eco Shield Pest Control representatives will be in the Village beginning today through August 21 after being issued valid Village solicitor permits.

If someone comes to your door representing Eco Shield, please remember they are required to have both:
✔️ A Village-issued identification badge
✔️ Their Village solicitor permit

Don't hesitate to ask to see both before speaking with them. If a solicitor cannot provide the Village-issued badge and permit, or if you have any concerns, please contact the Wolverine Lake Police Department.

As always, whether or not you choose to answer the door or speak with a solicitor is entirely your decision.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Thomas Silva to the Wolverine Lake Police Department!

Officer Silva brings 26 years of law enforcement experience to our community after recently retiring from the Harper Woods Police Department. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned a reputation for professionalism, dedication, and exceptional service. His stellar attendance and performance record are a testament to his commitment to the profession and to the communities he has served.

Although he has retired from Harper Woods, Officer Silva isn't ready to hang up the badge. Living close to Wolverine Lake, he wanted to continue serving a community where he can make a difference, and we're grateful he chose to continue his law enforcement career with us for the next several years.

His experience, integrity, and commitment to public service make him an outstanding addition to our department. We are excited to have him on our team and know our residents will benefit from the knowledge and professionalism he brings to the Village.

Please join me in welcoming Officer Thomas Silva to the Wolverine Lake Police Department. We look forward to introducing him to the community and wish him continued success as he begins this new chapter of service.

The Wolverine Lake Police Department has recently received several complaints about solicitors knocking on doors despite residents displaying "No Soliciting" signs.

I understand the frustration. However, I also want to clarify what the Police Department can and cannot enforce. A "No Soliciting" sign placed on private property is not, by itself, enforceable by the Police Department under Village ordinance. While many legitimate solicitors will respect those signs, we cannot take enforcement action simply because someone ignored one.

To help keep everyone informed, the Police Department will begin posting on our page whenever a company obtains a Village solicitor's permit and plans to be in the community. We believe providing this information will help residents know who has been issued a permit to solicit within Wolverine Lake.

Even when solicitors have obtained a valid permit, we still occasionally receive complaints regarding their behavior. We take those complaints seriously, and officers will respond when appropriate to ensure permit holders are complying with Village regulations and conducting themselves professionally.

If someone comes to your door and you feel uncomfortable, the individual refuses to leave after being asked, becomes argumentative, or you believe they are soliciting without a permit, please don't hesitate to contact the Wolverine Lake Police Department. We'd much rather check on a situation than have a resident feel unsafe.

Today was one of those days that reminds us that policing is more than a profession—it's a family.

Yesterday, Sergeant John Marasco cleaned out his locker for the final time, marking the end of an incredible law enforcement career spanning 34 years, including 24 years of dedicated service to the Village of Wolverine Lake.

John's career has been defined by integrity, compassion, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. He has been a mentor to countless officers, a trusted leader within our department, and a familiar face to generations of Wolverine Lake residents. His impact on this community reaches far beyond the badge he proudly wore.

Perhaps John's greatest battle wasn't fought on the streets, but in his courageous fight against cancer. Through faith, determination, the love of his family and friends, and the incredible support of this community, John faced that challenge head-on. Today, we are grateful to say he is cancer-free. His journey is a powerful reminder that strength, hope, prayer, and the support of those around us can overcome even the toughest obstacles.

Watching John empty his locker was emotional for all of us. It wasn't just a locker—it represented decades of service, sacrifice, friendships, and memories that helped shape this department into what it is today.

On behalf of everyone at the Wolverine Lake Police Department, thank you, Sergeant Marasco, for your leadership, your friendship, your courage, and your unwavering dedication to this community. Your legacy will continue to inspire those who wear this badge long after your final shift.

Congratulations on a well-earned retirement. We wish you good health, happiness, and countless new adventures in this next chapter of your life.

Fireworks Reminder – Village of Wolverine Lake

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th Anniversary, the Wolverine Lake Police Department would like to remind residents that the Village regulates the use of consumer fireworks.

Fireworks are ONLY permitted during the following dates and times:

📅 June 29 – July 4
🕚 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 p.m.

Fireworks discharged outside of these dates and times are prohibited under the Village ordinance and may result in enforcement action.

Please celebrate responsibly, be considerate of your neighbors, keep pets and children safe, and never use fireworks on public property or on another person's property without permission.

If anyone is missing a black vinyl clutch purse with misc. contents, it can be recovered at the police station. The area the purse was discovered was on Terry near the walk path.

🌺 Decorate your boat, grab your crew, and bring the Tiki night vibes! Whether you’re participating or watching from shore, this is one summer event you don’t want to miss. There is no theme to your boat decoration and it is only limited by your imagination.
Last year’s parade was fun and we are hoping for more participants. Years ago this was a tradition on the lake and I wanted to bring it back. I have posted some pictures of last year’s parade. Hope to see you out on the water!

Don’t miss it — the more boats, the better the party!
