WOLVERINE LAKE POLICE DEPARTMENT — INCIDENT UPDATE

On the evening of September 20, Wolverine Lake Police responded to a report involving several juveniles and what were initially believed to be handguns. Officers from Wolverine Lake and surrounding agencies quickly responded to the area and located the juveniles involved.

The investigation determined that the incident involved 13-year-old juveniles who have had a longstanding dispute with one another. During the incident, two of the juveniles allegedly confronted another juvenile while displaying what appeared to be handguns. The two juveniles fled the area prior to officers arriving and were located a short time later.

Importantly, the weapons involved were NOT real fi****ms. Officers recovered two ai***ft pellet guns, both of which were taken into evidence.

The juveniles were processed and subsequently released to their parents. The incident remains under investigation and will be handled through the appropriate juvenile justice process.

We understand that an incident involving a reported fi***rm can understandably cause concern in our community. We want residents to know that officers responded quickly, everyone involved was identified, and there is no ongoing threat to the community associated with this incident.

We would also remind parents to speak with their children about the serious consequences of displaying or using realistic-looking Ai***ft or replica fi****ms during a confrontation. Responding officers have no way of immediately knowing whether a weapon being displayed is real or an Ai***ft gun.

Attention parents of EBIkE riders. This evening around 545 about 8 EBIKE riders were driving in and out of traffic near Benstein and Clara Miller Park and then on Wakito and Brisbane. They were yelling profanities to drivers and riding in front of the vehicles almost causing them to crash. When law-enforcement got there officers attempted to make a traffic stop on them with lights and sirens and the group took off from the police down Darnell toward Delmonte. Parents, please if any of your kids were out tonight speak to them about the safety of riding the E bikes for their own well-being and others on the road.

THANK YOU, COMMERCE TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT!

The Wolverine Lake Police Department would like to take a moment to recognize and thank the men and women of the Commerce Township Fire Department for the outstanding service they provide to the Village of Wolverine Lake and our residents.

Whether responding to a serious traffic crash, assisting someone experiencing a medical or personal crisis, or answering any of the many other calls for service that bring our departments together, their response is consistently quick, professional, and compassionate.

Our police officers and Commerce Township firefighters work extremely well together as a team. When situations are at their worst and someone needs help, it makes a tremendous difference knowing we have dedicated professionals responding alongside us who can be counted on to get the job done.

We truly appreciate the partnership we have with the Commerce Township Fire Department and everything they do for the citizens of Wolverine Lake. We couldn't do what we do without them.

From all of us at the Wolverine Lake Police Department — thank you for being such a great partner and for always being there when our community needs you.

Officer Brian Dennis Announces Retirement

The Wolverine Lake Police Department would like to announce the retirement of Officer Brian Dennis following 12 years of dedicated service to the Wolverine Lake community.

Throughout his years with our department, Officer Dennis served the residents of Wolverine Lake with dedication and developed many lasting friendships with fellow officers, Village employees, and members of the community.

In his retirement letter, Officer Dennis reflected on his time with the department, describing his service to Wolverine Lake as one of the greatest honors of his life. He expressed his appreciation for the friendships, experiences, challenges, and accomplishments he shared with his fellow officers and noted that those experiences will remain with him long after turning in his badge.

Officer Dennis also expressed his gratitude to the members of the department and wished his fellow officers continued safety, integrity, dedication, and fulfillment in their service to the community.

On behalf of the Wolverine Lake Police Department, we thank Officer Dennis for his 12 years of service to our community and wish him and his family health, happiness, and all the best as he begins the next chapter of his life.

Congratulations on your retirement, Brian, and thank you for your service to Wolverine Lake! 🚔💙

Heads Up, Wolverine Lake Residents!

Eco Shield Pest Control representatives will be in the Village beginning today through August 21 after being issued valid Village solicitor permits.

If someone comes to your door representing Eco Shield, please remember they are required to have both:
✔️ A Village-issued identification badge
✔️ Their Village solicitor permit

Don't hesitate to ask to see both before speaking with them. If a solicitor cannot provide the Village-issued badge and permit, or if you have any concerns, please contact the Wolverine Lake Police Department.

As always, whether or not you choose to answer the door or speak with a solicitor is entirely your decision.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Thomas Silva to the Wolverine Lake Police Department!

Officer Silva brings 26 years of law enforcement experience to our community after recently retiring from the Harper Woods Police Department. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned a reputation for professionalism, dedication, and exceptional service. His stellar attendance and performance record are a testament to his commitment to the profession and to the communities he has served.

Although he has retired from Harper Woods, Officer Silva isn't ready to hang up the badge. Living close to Wolverine Lake, he wanted to continue serving a community where he can make a difference, and we're grateful he chose to continue his law enforcement career with us for the next several years.

His experience, integrity, and commitment to public service make him an outstanding addition to our department. We are excited to have him on our team and know our residents will benefit from the knowledge and professionalism he brings to the Village.
