The Digital Skills Outreach Programme pilot at Tshwane South TVET College equipped students with practical digital skills, information on training opportunities, funding support and career pathways.

Through contributions from NEMISA, GCIS, CSIR and the National Skills Fund (NSF), students gained valuable insights into how digital capabilities can enhance their prospects within the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) sector and the broader digital economy.

Representing the NSF, Mr Nyiko Hlekane outlined available funding opportunities and the support students can access to pursue further education, develop in-demand skills and advance their careers.

From the main programme to the NSF exhibition stand, the day provided practical guidance, digital learning resources, funding information and connections to potential career opportunities, enabling students to take meaningful steps towards their futures in the digital economy.

WATCH | SEDIBENG TVET COLLEGE LEARNER INDUCTION ✂️⚙️

A new skills journey began yesterday, 28 September 2026, at Sedibeng TVET College’s Vereeniging Campus.

The National Skills Fund (NSF) supported the induction for its Hairdressing and Mechatronics occupational programmes, with places approved for 35 learners: 15 in Hairdressing and 20 in Mechatronics.

The National Skills Fund congratulates Matthew Bowen on his historic Silver Medal in Aircraft Maintenance at the 48th WorldSkills International Competition, recently held in Shanghai, China.

Matthew, from Intelek Training and Consultation at Rand Airport, is currently undertaking workplace training at Solenta Aviation.

His achievement is a testament to the power of skills development, workplace-based learning and the potential of South Africa’s young skilled professionals.

The National Skills Fund (NSF) supported an induction for beneficiaries of Hairdressing and Mechatronics training programmes at Sedibeng TVET College’s Vereeniging Campus today, 28 September 2026.

The induction introduced beneficiaries to their respective trades and the training ahead. The programmes form part of the NSF’s work to expand access to skills development and prepare South Africans for employment opportunities.

On the sidelines of the WorldSkills International Competition in Shanghai, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Nomusa Dube-Ncube, held a bilateral meeting with China’s Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, H.E. Mr Yan Qinghui.

The engagement focused on strengthening cooperation in skills development, technical and vocational education and training, and opportunities for collaboration.
