196 years ago, on 18 August 1830, Emperor Franz Joseph was born at Schönbrunn Palace 🏰 As Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, he ruled from 1848 to 1916.

👑Franz Joseph has gone down in history as the prototypical ruler of the Habsburg Monarchy — the benevolently smiling “grandfather of the empire”.
