✅ That’s a wrap on the City of Playford's Northern Adelaide Careers Expo!

Our team hosted a stall in the defence pathways section alongside our SAVEN member companies Babcock, ASC, Aimpoint, South Australia Police, BAE Systems Australia, and industry partners Australian Submarine Agency, Defence Australia and ADF Careers.

Not only was it a fantastic opportunity to connect with the local community, it was also a great showcase of how collaboration can create meaningful employment pathways for veterans and their families.

Today, we honour and remember the civilian seamen who served on merchant ships during the First and Second World Wars.

Merchant navy crews played a vital role in supporting allied forces, transporting personnel, food, equipment, ammunition and supplies across dangerous waters. Their service came with constant risk from submarines, aircraft, surface raiders and sea mines.

On Merchant Navy Day, we acknowledge their courage, sacrifice and contribution, and remember the Australian merchant seamen who lost their lives while serving the Allied cause.

Thinking about applying for our Anzac Day Commemoration Fund? Want to see the kind of impact your project could have?

Last year, 21 projects across South Australia received funding to honour Australia’s military history and preserve the Anzac legacy.

Among them was Mount Barker High School who used the fund to enhance its memorial path with new commemorative bricks, as well as service sculptures and restoring archival displays.

This year, $100,000 in funding is available to support projects just like this. Yours could be next.

Happy 1st Birthday to the Lives Lived Well Northern Hub! 🎉🎂

On Saturday, Veterans SA's Program Coordinator Lara joined the celebrations and reflected on the incredible impact the Hub has had in supporting and connecting veterans and their families over the past year.

It was fantastic to see representatives from government, ESOs, and community organisations come together in support of the local veteran community, creating a welcoming and family-friendly event for all to enjoy.

Veterans SA was honoured to receive a Certificate of Appreciation and is proud to have 'The Family' on display at the Lives Lived Well Northern Hub (44–46 John Rice Ave, Elizabeth Vale) for the next month. Families are invited to visit and tie a ribbon in celebration of their connection to the veteran community.

It’s Legacy Week! 🎖️🧸

From 31 August to 6 September, we recognise not only the service and sacrifice of veterans, but also the families who have shared and supported their journeys.

Communities across South Australia are encouraged to support Legacy Club of South Australia & Broken Hill, with funds raised this week helping to provide practical, emotional and social support to veterans' partners, children and families.

Today, we honour and remember the Australians who served during the Malayan Emergency and the Indonesian Confrontation.

More than 7,000 Australians served in the Malayan Emergency between 1950 and 1960, while many others served in subsequent operations in Malaysia and Borneo.

These campaigns called on the courage, commitment and professionalism of Australian Navy, Army and Air Force personnel.

On Malaya and Borneo Veterans’ Day, we acknowledge the service and sacrifice of all who served, remember those who lost their lives, and recognise the families who supported them throughout their service.

🌟 Ahead of Legacy Week, the Veterans SA team joined members of South Australia’s veteran and wider community at yesterday’s Legacy Week Corporate Breakfast.

Legacy Week is an opportunity to recognise and support the families of veterans who have given their lives or their health in service to our nation. The breakfast highlighted the enduring work of Legacy Club of South Australia & Broken Hill and the care, connection and support they provide to veterans’ families.

It was also a powerful reminder that Legacy’s century-old promise is kept through people: the Legatees, volunteers, partners and community members who continue to stand alongside families for the long term.
