This week, we’re proud to recognise the amazing work of our School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs). Whether in the classroom or across the school, our SLSOs go above and beyond, offering invaluable care, encouragement and guidance for our students every day.

Their passion and commitment help create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can shine. We thank our SLSOs for their dedication and the positive impact they make in our school community.

When our children are anxious, our first instinct is often to make things easier for them.

But could helping them through the discomfort, rather than always removing it, actually help them build confidence in their ability to cope?

In this thought-provoking TEDx talk, Dr Eli Lebowitz explores how the way we respond to childhood anxiety can influence how young people learn to manage it.

As part of our Resilience in Our Teens (RIOT) approach we will be adopting, this is an important conversation for us as a school and for families.

Our goal isn't to ignore anxiety — it's to help young people learn: “I can feel anxious and still cope.” 🌱

🎳 AHS STRIKES AGAIN! 🎳
Phoenix, Emily, Reegan and Yoni proudly represented AHS at the Inclusive School Sport Ten Pin Bowling Competition.
Across two games, the team bowled an impressive total score of 763, including 5 STRIKES 🎯 and 12 SPARES! 💥

Even better than the score was the fantastic teamwork and support they showed each other throughout the competition. Plenty of laughs, encouragement and fun along the way!

👏 Well done team — a fantastic effort and a great day representing AHS!

SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING CHALLENGE NEWCASTLE: Last week 28 of our students went to compete at Newcastle University for the state finals of the Science and Engineering Challenge. Competing against the other top 23 schools in NSW, the students got to experience first hand how to overcome engineering challenges and problem solve.
Huge thank you to the local Rotary Clubs for supporting us to get there financially. The students enjoyed their time learning new skills.

NSWCHS KNOCKOUT: After winning the Riverina Gala Day last term the Albury High girls' hockey team travelled to Lithgow for a potential double header. First up they played Elderslie High and came away with a strong win. Goals went to Adelaide, Jasmine, Gemma and Lucy.

Winning meant moving to the next round against Armidale High. We knew it would be a tough ask against such a strong team. We were lucky to open the scoring with a goal to Adelaide. Armidale proved too strong in the end and game away with the win. The girls can be proud of making it to the top 16 for the second year running.

Aussie brick wall in goals 🧱

Congrats to 2011 alumni Jocelyn Bartram on being awarded Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the 2026 FIH World Cup 👏

Her Hockeyroos have fallen agonisingly short of a World Cup medal, going down 1-0 to Belgium in a hard-fought bronze medal match to bring their FIH Hockey World Cup campaign to a close.

Congratulations Jocelyn on yet another amazing campaign in goals for the Hockeyroos.

🎭 Stage 5 Dance Students Shine at the Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod! 🎭

Our Stage 5 Dance students had an incredible fortnight at the Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod, demonstrating not only their performance skills but also their commitment behind the scenes.

Throughout the Eisteddfod, our Stage 5 students completed nine days of work experience, volunteering across a range of roles including front of house, backstage, stage management, adjudicator support, music operation, announcing, prize presentations and general event coordination. Their professionalism, enthusiasm and willingness to help played an important role in the smooth running of this year's event.

On the final day of the Eisteddfod, the students also took to the stage to perform original duet/ trio compositions created as part of their Stage 5 Dance studies.

As part of their current unit of work, students explored emotion and dynamics, using the choreographic process to communicate intent through movement. Working collaboratively, they composed and refined their compositions, manipulating the Elements of Dance to create meaningful and engaging performances.

Congratulations to all of our Stage 5 dancers. Your dedication to both your learning and your service to the Eisteddfod reflects the outstanding opportunities and experiences available through Dance at Albury High School. We are incredibly proud of your achievements both on and off the stage!

STATE FINALISTS: Albury High School 15 and Under Netball team go through to the state finals undefeated at the Riverina Knockout carnival in Wagga Wagga yesterday. We had dominate wins against RAP, Leeton and Murray High Schools in the round games before defeating Narrandera 18-11 in the final securing a position for the state titles later in the year.
Player of the tournament went to Lilly who had a stand out performance in WA.

The girls represented Albury High School with brilliant displays of sportsmanship and dedication to excellence. Congratulations!

A massive thank you to Mrs Kane, our phenomenal Teacher Librarian for the countless hours she has put into Book Week celebrations at Albury High School. Our book week door competition, is a huge hit around the school amongst staff, students and visitors.
