unit destroyed in early Friday morning fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW were alerted by multiple Triple Zero (000) calls shortly after 6am on Friday morning to a residential unit fire.

The Springdale Heights property was part of a larger unit complex and was well alight on the arrival of Fire and Rescue NSW Station 203 Albury Central firefighters.

Firefighters immediately got to work on the fire and to protect adjoining units. The intense fire conditions presented many challenges to firefighters and caused the roof to collapse, causing significant damage and hindering access to the property.

Fire and Rescue NSW Station 206 Albury North and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 209 Albury Civic firefighters arrived soon after and provided additional capability to the firefighting operation.

There was a concern that a person may have been trapped within the unit, however that fear was relieved when the occupant was found to be elsewhere and safe.

The cause of the fire is subject to investigation by NSW Police Force

This fire comes after a residential fire on Thursday afternoon in Springdale Heights that caused major damage to the structure and contents.

It's a timely reminder that all homes are required to have a working smoke alarm fitted on each level of the building and that winter is the busiest home fire season of all.
