AlburyCity is proud to host the local National Reconciliation Week Flag Raising Ceremony at QEII Square on Wednesday 27 May at 10am.

National Reconciliation Week is a time to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation.

The 2026 theme, ‘All In’, invites every Australian to take part in reconciliation every day. It calls on all of us to step forward, stay engaged and help create meaningful change together. Advancing the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is a shared responsibility.

Join us at 10am for the Flag Raising Ceremony. Aunty Edna Stewart will deliver the Welcome to Country and Darren Wighton will lead a Smoking Ceremony.

After the ceremony, head to the Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA) to connect over a cuppa.

Next Sunday, we’re inviting people to join us for a gentle, 2.5km walk along the Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk, followed by a picnic by the Murray River at the Kremur Street Boat Ramp.

In the wake of the devastating by-election result in Farrer, many people in our community are feeling anxious, disheartened and uncertain about what comes next.

At a time when xenophobia, division and fear are being amplified in our politics, it’s important that we come together, stay connected, and remember that compassion and solidarity still exist in abundance in our community.

The walk itself feels especially meaningful right now. In Wiradjuri culture, Yindyamarra is a profound philosophy centred on respect, gentleness, kindness, honouring others, moving thoughtfully through the world, and taking responsibility for how we treat people and Country.

This won’t be a rally or a formal political event. It’s simply an opportunity to regroup, connect, and share ideas for how we can build a progressive future for Albury together.

We'll provide some snacks to share, but feel free to pack your own lunch, or bring a plate to share. If you have a picnic blanket or camp chairs, please bring them, but we’ll have some extra if you don’t.

The location is wheelchair accessible and there are public toilets available nearby.

All are welcome.

Australians are sick of being ripped off by greedy gas corporations - they want a gas exports tax. So why is the One Nation candidate for Farrer spouting gas lobby talking points and running cover for Albo’s failure?

Norway has a 78% tax on gas exports and they haven’t priced themselves out of the market, David.

Instead they’ve built a multi trillion dollar sovereign wealth fund that ensures the wealth of the country actually helps the people. We can do that too.

People are angry because they know our political and economic systems don’t work for them. Pauline Hanson and One Nation exploit that anger for votes while they’re bankrolled by billionaires and advance the very interests that create inequality in the first place.

The Nationals (including leader Matt Canavan), One Nation, Family First candidates for Farrer have all attended an anti-abortion event run by extremists.

The Greens are proudly pro-choice. Every MP, every vote, every time. Abortion is a personal decision between the person who’s pregnant and their health professional - not up to politicians or the church. If you agree that reproductive rights should not be up for debate, here’s a helpful pic of who not to vote for on May 9th ⬇️

Our hard fought reproductive rights are under attack. I’m proud to have been part of the campaign to decriminalise abortion in NSW in 2019 alongside incredible women and our pro-choice allies.

If you’re voting in the Farrer by-election, here are the candidates who attended an anti-abortion event hosted by someone who doesn’t live here, notoriously peddles misinformation to rile people up, and is spruiking multiple bills in different jurisdictions to restrict abortion access.
