Every Minute Matters

It might not seem like much when a child is a few minutes late or misses a day here and there — but it all adds up. Missing just one day a week equals around 40 days of school, or 8 weeks of learning, in a single year. Over the course of their schooling, that’s more than 2.5 years of lost learning.

Every minute counts towards your child’s success, learning, and wellbeing. Regular attendance helps students stay connected with their peers, build strong learning habits, and reach their full potential.

If getting to school on time is a challenge, please reach out to our school staff. We’re here to help and support your family — because every day really does count.

Our Year 11 Biology students enjoyed an incredible evening exploring the Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk during a nocturnal ecology field study.

Students spotted over 20 possums, including both ringtail and brushtail possums, along with a native water rat and several sleeping native birds. The highlights of the night were seeing a squirrel glider moving through the trees and a barking owl that had just caught a bat for dinner!

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to experience Biology in the real world while developing their fieldwork and observation skills in our local environment.

Over the past few weeks, students involved in our Next Level Aspirational Athletes program have had the opportunity to learn from a number of inspiring guest speakers.

Students were fortunate to hear from current North Melbourne AFLW player Abby Favell, who shared her journey to professional sport and spoke about the dedication, resilience and sacrifices required from a young age to reach the elite level. Abby provided students with valuable insight into the realities of high-performance sport and encouraged students to continue striving towards their own sporting goals.

Our students have also benefited from multiple presentations by local nutritionist Erin Presnell. Erin worked with students to develop their understanding of how to properly fuel their bodies to maximise training, recovery and sporting performance. Her sessions provided students with practical strategies and knowledge that they can apply both in sport and everyday life.

We sincerely thank Abby and Erin for generously giving up their time to support and inspire our aspirational athletes. Their experiences and expertise have provided students with invaluable learning opportunities and motivation as they continue their sporting journeys.

Our Year 11 Semester One Formal Assembly was held on Tuesday 26th May, celebrating and recognising the outstanding achievements, growth and commitment of our students throughout the semester.

Students were acknowledged for their academic success, dedication to learning, leadership and positive contributions to our school community. It was wonderful to see so many students recognised for their hard work and persistence across a range of areas.

The assembly also provided an opportunity to reflect on the strong start our Year 11 cohort has made this year and to encourage students as they continue to work towards their personal and academic goals.

Congratulations to all students who received awards and recognition -- we are proud of your efforts and look forward to seeing your continued success throughout the year.

At James Fallon High School, we believe that success comes in many forms—and our alumni are living proof of that every day.

Some of our former students are studying at university, others are building careers, completing apprenticeships, starting businesses, or making a difference in their communities. Each pathway is valuable, and each story is worth celebrating.

We are currently inviting our alumni (or nominees) to share what they’ve been doing since leaving school. We want to hear about your journey, your achievements, and the experiences that helped shape your direction.

What did you enjoy most about your time at James Fallon (Albury North)? How did your school experience support you in getting to where you are today?

By sharing your story, you’re helping us highlight the incredible diversity and success of our school community while inspiring current students to pursue their own goals with confidence.

Every Day Matters

If your child is away from school, please let us know as soon as possible. This helps us plan the right support for their learning and wellbeing while they’re away.

Whether it’s due to illness, an appointment, family business, or Sorry Business, it’s important to explain all absences. Regular communication helps us work together to make sure every student stays connected and supported in their learning.

A day here or there might not seem like much, but it adds up over time — and every day really does matter.
