The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) advises that ๐— ๐—œ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ฅ flooding is possible along the Haughton River at Giru. The Haughton River at Giru is currently below the minor flood level and falling and may exceed the minor flood level (1.80 m) Sunday evening.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) advises that the Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge (Burdekin Bridge) is currently below the ๐— ๐—œ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ฅ flood level and rising, and may reach around the ๐— ๐—œ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ฅ flood level (7.00 m) Sunday evening.

Further rises are possible with forecast rain. The situation is being monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.

The river may reach around 2.00 m Saturday evening, with ๐— ๐—œ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ฅ flooding.

Further showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the remainder of Saturday and into Sunday which may cause further river level rises.

The Burdekin Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has transitioned back to ALERT activation following endorsement via a flying minute.

The Burdekin Dam and the Burdekin River at the Inkerman gauge remain in minor flood, are currently steady, and are expected to remain above minor flood levels through Thursday and Friday.
At this time no communities are isolated and no issues have been reported.

In line with current conditions, the Australian Warning System (AWS) message for the Burdekin Local Government Area has been downgraded to an โ€œAdvice โ€“ Stay Informedโ€ message.

The Burdekin LDMG will continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide further updates to the community should the situation change.

Council is aware that water levels at the Anabranch Bridge on Rita Island are currently low.

However, due to safety concerns caused by large timber and debris moving through the area, it has been deemed unsafe to reopen the road at this time.

Council will continue to closely monitor conditions and provide further updates when it is safe to do so.

Residents of Rita Island are encouraged to stay up to date with current conditions by visiting Burdekin Shire Councilโ€™s Disaster Dashboard.

A live flood camera is available on the Anabranch Bridge to help you monitor current conditions and make informed safety decisions. ๐—ฃ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜๐—ฒ that floodwaters have now begun to encroach onto the bridge.

The Burdekin Local Disaster Management Group advises Groper Creek and Rita Island Residents to ๐—ฃ๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—ฃ๐—”๐—ฅ๐—˜ ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ช as river levels continue to rise.

The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge is currently at 7.30m and rising. At this level there is currently no impact, however residents of Rita Island and Groper Creek are advised to monitor the river levels closely and ensure you are prepared should the situation change.

The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge may peak near 8.00 m during Wednesday, with minor flooding.

For emergency help in floods and storms, call the QLD SES on 132 500 or download the SES Assistance QLD App. In life threatening situations, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge (Burdekin Bridge) is currently at 7.30 m and rising, with minor flooding. The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge may peak near 8.00 m during Wednesday, with minor flooding.

Further showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the catchment over the next few days, which may cause additional river level rises across the Burdekin River catchment. The situation is being monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
