This year we have a couple members heading East to take on the challenge again. Wish them luck!

99 DAYS TO GO

In 99 days, a thousand firefighters and emergency service personnel will step into the stairwell and begin the climb.

For some, it’s a personal challenge.

For others, it’s about chasing a PB.

But the climbers who make it to the top know that the climb isn’t really about the stairs.

It’s about your why.

Your why might be a family member fighting cancer.

Your why might be a mate who picked up the phone to Lifeline when they needed it most.

Your why might be a colleague, friend or loved one who is no longer with us.

When your legs are burning, your lungs are working overtime, and you’re wondering how many floors are left, your why is what carries you forward.

Every step climbed and every dollar raised helps support the incredible work of Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, Lifeline, and the 000 Foundation.

So with 99 days to go, take a moment to remember why you’re climbing.

Then share it.

Because stories inspire people, and inspiration changes lives.

🔥 Fire Danger Season has ended for 2025/26 🔥

Fire Danger Season has now officially ended across the entire state.

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to our incredible volunteers, dedicated staff, partner agencies, and the wider community for your support, commitment, and resilience throughout the 2025/26 Fire Danger Season. Your efforts help keep South Australia safe.

While the season has ended, we remind everyone to continue exercising caution when using fire. Conditions can still change quickly, and it’s important to monitor the weather and remain vigilant.

Thank you again to everyone who played a part this season.

🔥 A Big Night for Barmera CFS 🔥

Last night was a special one for our brigade as we recognised an incredible milestone.

👏 Congratulations to Mark on receiving his 25-Year Clasp to the National Medal, marking an outstanding 29 years of dedicated service with the CFS.

Mark, thank you for everything you’ve given to the brigade and the community over the years. Your experience, leadership, and willingness to pass on your knowledge have shaped so many of our members and there’s still plenty more to come.

It’s truly an honour for any of us to be seated in the truck alongside you. You are valued and appreciated by all. 👨‍🚒

🚒 New QRV Delivered 🚒

We also welcomed a new addition to the station last night, taking delivery of our new Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) —> replacing our trusty 2007 Toyota 79 Series.

The new QRV is built on a Toyota LandCruiser 4x4 chassis and carries 550 litres of water. Built by Varley Group, it features:

• Hatz 1B40 motor / GAAM Mk70 pump
• Halo system (water deluge for crew protection)
• In-cab breathing system
• LED light bar
• Dometic fridge
• Stihl chainsaw
• 1VDJ 4.5l V8 & 5sp Manual Transmission

Importantly, it brings enhanced safety features to better protect our firefighters while out on the fireground.

Our outgoing QRV, after 19 years of service, will now be refurbished and continue its journey supporting another brigade.

👉 If you come across water over the road - turn around immediately. Water on the road can hide deep potholes and damage to roads. Currents may be stronger than what you can see on the surface and water levels can rise rapidly.

👉 Floodwater is dirty and can contain mud, dirt, branches, rock, debris, chemicals, snakes, dead animals, and more.
