What's your favourite death poem?

Bring it along to our next Poetry Night on August 12. We'll gather in a cosy, warm, informal space to share the words that have carried us through death, grief, and loss.

So often it's only poetry that can reach into that huge, immense field where feeling runs ahead of language.

Spots are limited so book yours soon. Ticket link in comments 🖤

“…it’s a hard topic sometimes, so having permission is wonderful.” 🍂
In this video, the wonderful Imogen (who first joined us as an attendee and has since been welcomed as a new Miindala volunteer) shares about her experience at our last Death Café.

For her, the deepest value was being in a space where she was given true permission to speak openly about death and grief, free from constraints & social taboos.

This is what we try to cultivate at our tables.

Death Cafés are warm, inviting spaces to pull up a chair and chat honestly about the one journey we all have in common… and by doing so, to witness each other in our shared humanity.

Whether you have a story to share or you just want to sit quietly, listen, and enjoy a slice of homemade cake, you are welcome to join us.

Come sit with us at our next gathering:

Many of us think about the existential realities of living a relatively short life on this big, beautiful planet. These thoughts can be brought to the forefront by sudden deaths, accidents, medical scares, heartbreak or earth grief - or we can push them to the edges of our minds, until life calls us back to them.

Death Cafés are a space to bring those thoughts into the room. A global tradition rooted in the 'café mortel' gatherings first held in the early 2000s, they have since spread to countries all over the world.

We hold them in Bellingen every two months. They are casual, softly facilitated spaces where we come together, break into groups of 5–8 people, and are invited to share what is alive in us around death, grief and living well.

We gather not to counsel or to fix… but simply to talk. To see ourselves in others and to be bonded by the same horizon all human lives hold. To talk about endings and what they mean, and about the lives we're living in light of them.

There's no strict agenda and no expertise required. Come as you are. Tea, coffee, and cake provided. Please RSVP via the link in comments.

18 beautiful people joined us this past weekend for our Volunteer Support Training in Grief & Loss and we are still feeling full from it...

We explored how to hold space for people who are grieving, looked honestly at our own relationships to loss, how much we can sit with our own emotions and trust others in theirs. We touched into Earth grief; the importance of feeling what is happening to our world rather than turning away from it. Sunday took us into death and dying, getting deep and also wonderfully practical.

We are always so moved by the people who come to these trainings. Their courage and their openness, their stories and their commitment to not looking away from some of life’s hardest and often most meaningful experiences.

Many will go on to become Grief Companion volunteers, offering free grief support to people in our community. If that's you, or someone around you ~ please keep us in mind and reach out.

“I feel warmed, and I feel peaceful, and I feel supported.” 🌱 Hear a brief reflection from one of our wonderful Death Café attendees, Dusty, about her experience at our last meeting in Bellingen!

Our upcoming Death Café is this Sunday, May 3rd, 10.30am in Bellingen, at the Scout Hall (12 Bowra St).

It can be difficult to describe the energy of a Death Café — the feeling of community solidarity, respect & care that fills the room; the sense of collective honesty and safety, the invitation to drop in to the truth of how you’re really feeling, and to share if you feel called to do so.

As such, we thought it best to allow our participants to share their thoughts directly, in the hope that anyone curious about coming along may have a ‘question’ answered!

If you’d like to join us, please register for your free ticket at the link in our bio. 🔗 If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message & one of our volunteer facilitators will be in touch with answers. ✉️

We’d love to see you this weekend! 🙏
