🚗 Temporary interruption to car parks along northern end of Ford Street

In the coming weeks, the Bellingen Shire Council Administration Offices will be undergoing works as the air‑conditioning system is being replaced.🛠️

🚧As part of these works, several parking spaces along Ford Street, adjacent to the Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre, will be temporarily closed. The impacted spaces are shown in the image above, outlined in orange.

This temporary closure will begin on May 8 and remain closed until the project is completed, which could span up to 10 weeks.

Dr Tom Myles Memorial Plaque Installed in Mylestom 🌿

A memorial plaque honouring Dr Tom Myles has been installed in Mylestom, marking an important milestone in recognising a valued member of the local community.

Dr Tom Myles is remembered as a compassionate and community-minded individual, known for his contribution to the region. One of the early European settlers of Mylestom, and the village's namesake, Dr Tom Myles was known for his many acts of kindness and faithful service as a doctor, until his death in 1922 at just 53.

The plaque, which was previously located at Bellingen Hospital, has now been carefully relocated to a prominent position within Mylestom. This ensures the story and legacy of Dr Tom Myles can be shared more broadly with both residents and visitors.

The project was delivered in close collaboration with community member Stephen Orange, whose initiative and commitment were instrumental in bringing the idea to fruition. What began as a simple concept has now become a tangible and lasting tribute for the community.

🙌 Council also acknowledges the support of Bellingen Hospital in facilitating the transfer of the plaque, along with the efforts of council staff.

The Mayor, Stephen Orange and Rae Beaumont NUM Bellingen hospital came together to unveil the plaque, marking the completion of this important community project. 🌱

🌿 Help shape the future of Urunga CBD 🌿

We’re developing a community‑led vision for the Urunga CBD and are seeking interest from local businesses, trades, artists and suppliers.

We want to understand the skills and products available locally and across the Mid North Coast, including infrastructure, landscaping, lighting, street furniture, public art, cultural interpretation, fabrication, sustainability and accessibility.

👉 This is not a call for designs or proposals — just an opportunity to register interest in the project.
