The Graceville Arts Festival is back this August! 🎨

Join us on 13, 14 and 16 August as St Luke's Lutheran Church in Nambour comes alive with creativity, showcasing incredible artwork from talented artists across our community.

This year, we're excited to welcome Pixel from Tydle Waive as our Feature Artist. Inspired by her lived experiences with mental health and learning disabilities, Pixel's vibrant, dreamlike artworks transform emotion into colour, form and symbolism, creating powerful connections through art.

Think your artwork could be part of this year's festival too?

Artist applications close Friday, 31 July, so there's still time to submit your work and exhibit alongside an inspiring group of artists.

Residents at Wahroonga Aged Care in Biloela were singing along and enjoying every moment recently when Queensland music ensemble Topology visited. 🎶
Residents were treated to an hour and a half of classic favourites, with songs like Jolene, Lights on the Hill and Killing Me Softly filling the room. There were plenty of smiles, singalongs and shared memories as everyone got into the spirit of the afternoon.

You don’t always win a lucky door prize for your age! Don Stirling, from Immanuel Gardens Aged Care & Retirement Living in Buderim, won a $10 gift card and a big round of applause for being the oldest person in the room at the ABBA Tribute Show at the Caloundra RSL.

Don and his fellow residents enjoyed the singing, dancing and delicious lunch. By the end of the show, several residents were up on the dance floor embracing their inner Dancing Queens, while Don became something of a celebrity with fellow patrons lining up for photos with him!

Lights, camera, action at Tabeel Aged Care!

Our residents in Laidley recently enjoyed a very special screen storytelling workshop with Noosa Film Academy, led by Academy Award-winning cinematographer Greg Huglin.

For many, it was their first time stepping onto a film set or helping create a short film. There were a few nerves at first – but they quickly turned into laughter, confidence and plenty of shared ideas.

Resident Marcia said: “I was a little nervous at first because I’d never acted before, but everyone made me feel comfortable and once we got started, I really enjoyed myself.”

Resident Max, who once worked in radio, also loved being part of the day.
“I’d never been involved in making a film before, so this was very exciting. It was great fun seeing everyone’s ideas come together and being part of the adventure. I loved every minute of it,” Max said.

It was a wonderful day of storytelling, creativity and connection – and we can’t wait for residents and families to see the finished film.

This World Youth Skills Day, we're celebrating the skills, confidence and determination that help young people build brighter futures.

When Shakira was referred to School Based Youth Support through Intercept at the end of Year 10, she was at risk of disengaging from school. Two years later, she is preparing to become the first person in her family to graduate and receive her Queensland Certificate of Education.
Along the way, Shakira completed a Certificate III in Active Volunteering, a Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement and a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways.

"It was very important to my mum that I graduate and now I feel so relieved and proud to say I did it," Shakira said.

After graduation, Shakira hopes to enter the workforce full-time and pursue her passion for the beauty industry by starting a home-based nail salon.
Her journey is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when young people are supported to build skills, confidence and opportunities for the future.

Happy World Youth Skills Day!

A wagging tail, a gentle cuddle and a friendly face can make all the difference. 🐾
Residents at Cooinda Aged Care in Gympie recently enjoyed a visit from some very special therapy dogs, bringing plenty of comfort, connection and joy along the way.
Whether it was a pat, a cuddle or simply spending time together, these gentle interactions helped brighten residents' day, creating moments of calm and companionship. It's always wonderful to see the positive impact our furry visitors have on residents' wellbeing.

After spending almost six months in hospital, Heath, a client of South Burnett Community Services in Kingaroy, is now living the life he dreamed of in Hervey Bay. ❤️

Following a below-knee amputation and a period of homelessness, Heath faced significant challenges on his road to recovery. But with determination, support from his family, healthcare professionals and the South Burnett Community Services team, he was able to secure a home, reconnect with friends and return to one of his greatest passions – fishing. 🎣

Another major milestone came recently when Heath was fitted with a prosthetic leg and regained the ability to walk independently.

"Being able to walk again was the best feeling," Heath said.

Stories like Heath's are a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through perseverance, collaboration and person-centred support. We're incredibly proud to have been part of his journey and wish him all the best as he continues building his new life in Hervey Bay.
