Always look twice. The Paperbark Flycatcher can often be mistaken for a Willie Wagtail on first glance. But if the tail stays low and the chin is nice and white you might have a flycatcher in your bins.

The Mangrove tour is a muddy adventure, which gives you the opportunity to see incredible mangrove specialties like the White-breasted Whistler. This one put on a lovely show for us. The mangroves can be tricky to photograph in, but sometimes it just aligns.

I don’t want the next generation to miss out on the Awe of the Far Eastern Curlew. With only 20-28,000 left in the world it’s so precarious for this species.

Sometimes you need just the right light to see a bird you know well in a new way. As a birding guide it’s also international travellers that give you a reminder of how incredible all the birds are in Australia!! Having Lorikeets Corellas, and Galahs bringing on total ‘wow’ moments, put things into perspective.

Even though it was only 50m away from us, it took ages for everyone on tour to locate it. The Black-fronted Dotterel was stealthy in amongst the sand and samphire along the edge of the wetland. Once it was found it was hard to take your eyes off this cute little shorebird having a rest. Seen on our Coastal Tour.

On a recent private tour, as well as a number of great bird species we luckily came across two Northern Nail-tail wallabies . These are rare for us to come across and to get two great views was amazing! The broad face, large ears, and swishing upward tail makes these wallabies unique from the Agile wallabies we often see. Thank you Matt and Steph for sharing these great pics of this elusive marsupial. (BBO’s first sighting of the year)!
