The Budgeree Hall is the heart of our farming community. Our mission, a connected community. This page does NOT provide emergency information.

The core values of the Budgeree Hall are Respect, Dignity, Tolerance, Inclusion and Diversity. We are here to build community by providing a space where people can come together for positive interactions. The Budgeree Hall is the keystone for the local remote rural community. It provides events throughout the year that encourages the local residents and surrounding regions to come together to swa

p stories and news. The committee organizes and implements the events based on the needs of the community. The most popular event is the annual Budgeree Christmas Tree, which has been running since 1885 and is held the second Saturday in December. A night of fun, games and entertainment plus a Santa visit with lollies for the children and young at heart. The Hall is managed by a volunteer committee appointed by Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA)

The Budgeree Hall is NOT a Community Safe Place in the event of emergency. The nearest neighbourhood safer places are Boolarra Memorial Hall and Charles Bond Park, Wicks St, Yinnar. The Budgeree Hall is in a wildfire region, please do not visit on days of possible extreme weather events. We recommend you download the Vic Emergency App or tune into ABC Gippsland 100.7 FM for the latest information. Please note: The Budgeree Hall Reserve Committee is committed to providing the community with a safe and enjoyable online experience. Inline with our social media policy the committee holds the right to moderate and remove comments and to block individuals and pages without explanation. If you object to our actions, you can appeal in writing to the President, Budgeree Hall Reserve Committee at [email protected]. Your request will be considered at our next quarterly meeting. Being blocked on social media does not block you from the hall. You are welcome to attend public events at the Budgeree Hall or hire the hall for a fee complying with our terms and conditions of hire. 🎼The hills will be alive with the sound of music 🎵 this afternoon. We are welcoming back the very talented musicians of the Monash Medical Orchestra.
Come along and enjoy 2 hours of the best classical music with a few old favourites added and we think they will also add in a few played on our 🎹 piano.

🌧️ 46mm since midnight and the rain keeps tumbling down. Morwell River is at the edge of its bank most of the way into Boolarra. There are rock falls along Morwell River Rd so be careful if heading out that way.

In 2010 Latrobe City did a review of it heritage sites and potential heritage sites and Budgeree was completely left off.
Let’s not let that happen again.

Please take a few minutes to have your say about accurately identifying and recording our historical sites. Link below to the Have your say page or attend one of the local pop ups and yes we definitely need a heritage advisory committee.

Latrobe City Council is looking to identify places across Latrobe that may have heritage significance but have not previously been recognised through past heritage assessments. Through this survey and a series of community consultation sessions, we're seeking your help

Budgeree Hall Family Winter Warmer is back! 🔥
Friday 7 August 2026 5pm onwards.

Bring the family, round up the neighbours, and come along for a night of good old-fashioned yarns, entertainment, and community spirit. Everyone is welcome, farmers, non farmers, thinking about farming, country folks and kids. 👩‍🌾👨‍🌾🚜

We’re thrilled to be teaming up again with Valley Farmers to host this fantastic event.

🔨 Renovations never stop on our historical building!

Thanks to a community grant from Latrobe City Council we’re underway with Stage 1 🎉 — replacing the rusted-out, leaking roof over the kitchen and cloak room, and fixing the rotten weatherboards on the top south side.

A huge shoutout to Doug and the team from Mirboo Nth Plumbing for getting stuck into it! 🙌

🌟 What a morning at Budger-tea! 🌟

We had such a special gathering today to celebrate National Volunteer Week and at the heart of it all was our very own Edgar.

For 70 years, Edgar has quietly and consistently shown up for this community. Fixing things that needed fixing, teaching the school kids to dance, running the monthly community dances, spraying weeds, sharing the rich history of this place, and always, always being there for a good chat.

That kind of dedication is rare and precious, and today we got to tell him so.

It was wonderful to see so many people turn out to celebrate with us, and extra special to have Pat, Matt, Will and Sarah from DEECA join us to present Edgar with a very well-deserved certificate of recognition. A beautiful acknowledgement too of the incredible contribution of Edith alongside him.

Thank you Edgar. Thank you Edith. Budgeree is better for you both. 💙

This National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating Edgar Owen — a Budgeree Hall Committee member for approximately 70 years (even Edgar’s lost count! 😄).
