Huge congrats to Carlton Park SLSC Life Member, Adrian Petrie, for being recognised, along with a number of others across the state, for their deployment to NSW in 2022 to support in the response to flood affected communities across the state.

Ace and the team received and the NSW Premier’s Flood Emergency Citation, recognising the contribution of emergency service personnel who responded to the floods. The team also received the SLSA Rescue Medal.

Congrats to you and the team, Ace! Well deserved.

VALE – Robert Smith OAM

Carlton Park is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Robert (Bob) Smith OAM. Bob’s exceptional contribution to lifesaving is reflected in Life Membership of Hobart Carlton SLSC, Carlton Park SLSC, Surf Life Saving Tasmania and Surf Life Saving Australia. He was also awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) and inducted into the Surf Life Saving Tasmania Hall of Fame.

Bob’s influence on the surf lifesaving community began in the 1950s. He was a foundation member of Hobart Carlton SLSC, one of Carlton Park’s two parent clubs. Decades of dedicated service followed, including outstanding contributions as a competitor, coach, official, administrator and leader. Bob diligently served as State Secretary for well over a decade and is remembered fondly for his outstanding organisational skills. His pivotal role in the success of the three Australian Surf Life Saving Championships held at Clifton Beach in 1969, 1976 and 1983 is recalled by many.

Bob is remembered as ‘a terrific bloke’, ‘a gentleman’, ‘an outstanding contributor’ and ‘an icon for surf lifesaving in Tasmania.’

Bob was a trailblazer of lifesaving in our state and leaves a remarkable legacy of leadership for the next generation.

We extend the club’s sincere condolences to Jill, family and the entire lifesaving community.

𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀!

Sorell Council is inviting the community to help shape the future of Dodges Ferry, Lewisham, Carlton, Carlton River and Primrose Sands.

Engagement runs from 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟲 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟮 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. There are several ways to get involved and help shape the project including an online survey, pop-up sessions and a community workshop.

The Southern Beaches Plan will help guide a positive and sustainable future, supporting a connected community, protecting local character and planning for community services and infrastructure.

Earlier this year, more than 300 people shared their thoughts through a community survey. Now, the next stage of engagement is kicking off.

HC Swim Club is proud to congratulate Ewan McIlwraith and Tessa Yu on qualifying for the 2026 Australian Swimming Trials.

At just 16 years of age, Ewan has qualified in the 50m Butterfly - a remarkable achievement!

Tessa has qualified in the 50m Breaststroke and will be racing on Wednesday at the Australian Swimming Trials.

Qualifying for Australia’s premier swimming event is a significant milestone, and we are incredibly proud to have two swimmers representing HC Swim Club on the national stage.

Congratulations to Ewan and Tessa, along with their coaches, teammates and supporters!
