🚨 ROAD CRASH RESCUE – FAIRY HILL 🚨

At approximately 10:15pm Saturday 5th September, Casino Rescue Squad was activated to reports of a truck that had left the Summerland Way at Fairy Hill, impacted with a tree and trapped the driver.

On arrival, crews found a small food-delivery pantech truck entangled in cattle-grid fencing and partially positioned up a tree, leaving the vehicle unstable. The driver was trapped by compression around their lower legs.

Working closely with NSW Ambulance paramedics and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter critical care team, rescue crews used specialised cutting, spreading and stabilisation equipment, along with the squad’s new rescue platform, to safely access the driver.

The truck’s doors were removed before crews pushed the dashboard and steering column away from the driver’s legs, successfully freeing them. The driver was then extricated from the cab onto an ambulance stretcher and transported to hospital for further treatment.

NSW Rural Fire Service crews assisted with managing potential spills and provided fire protection for paramedics and rescuers throughout the operation.

Well done to all services involved in what was a technically challenging rescue.

🐎 A HUGE THANK YOU FROM CASINO RESCUE SQUAD 🚨

We would like to extend a massive thank you to the Casino Rodeo & Campdraft Association for their incredible support of VRA Rescue NSW – Casino Rescue Squad.

Through the Metcalf Meats Open Slotted Draft, an amazing $3,510 was raised for our squad!

We are extremely grateful to everyone who helped make this possible, including the event sponsors Metcalf Meats, Paul Savins, Mia’s Equine Pulse and Nutrien Casino, along with Steven & Liesa Clark for generously donating the cattle.

A special thank you also goes to everyone who purchased tickets, supported the fundraising and got behind the event. Every contribution played a part in achieving this fantastic result.

🚑 Medical Emergency Access – Casino 🚑

At approximately 5:30am this morning, VRA Rescue NSW – Casino was tasked to a Medical Emergency Access call in the Casino area to assist NSW Ambulance.

On arrival, NSW Ambulance paramedics were already on scene after concerns were raised for the welfare of a patient inside the residence. Despite repeated attempts to make contact, there was initially no response, and our rescue operators began preparing our specialist access equipment to facilitate entry.

Just as our crews positioned the equipment and were about to commence forced entry, paramedics made one final attempt by knocking, calling out loudly and banging on the door. Thankfully, the patient responded and opened the door, allowing paramedics to gain immediate access and assess their condition.

With access no longer required, our rescue crews packed away our equipment and returned to service shortly afterwards.

This incident is a timely reminder that if you’re concerned about the welfare of a family member, friend or neighbour, don’t ignore that feeling. A simple welfare check could make all the difference.

🚛 Casino Truck Show 2026 🚛

What an incredible weekend it has been at the Casino Truck Show 2026!

This year, our Heavy Rescue Truck had the honour of bringing up the rear of the parade, proudly closing out the biggest truck parade and show in the southern hemisphere. As we made our way through the streets of Casino, we were greeted by thousands of smiling faces, plenty of enthusiastic waves, and of course, more than a few people encouraging us to give our super loud air horn a workout! 📣😄

Once the parade concluded, we relocated to Barker Street near Centre Street, where our Heavy Rescue Truck was on display throughout the afternoon. While we remained fully equipped and available to respond to any emergency should the need arise, it was fantastic to spend time with the community.

With over 500 trucks on display throughout the C*D and tens of thousands of visitors attending the event, we were overwhelmed by the support shown to our squad. Thousands of people stopped by to check out our Heavy Rescue Truck, grab some VRA Rescue merchandise, ask questions, and have a chat with our members. Sharing what we do and connecting with our community is one of the highlights of events like this.

A huge thank you goes to the Casino Truck Show Committee for once again inviting us to be part of this amazing event. The amount of work that goes into organising a weekend of this scale is extraordinary, and we are grateful to play a small part in its success.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, we loved meeting you all.

Assist Ambulance - Casino

This afternoon at approximately 2:15pm, VRA Rescue NSW – Casino responded to an Assist Ambulance call at the local golf course.

Our operators worked alongside NSW Ambulance crews to assist with the care and safe movement of a patient suffering a serious medical condition from the golf course to the awaiting ambulance for transport to hospital.

We wish the patient a speedy recovery and thank our emergency service colleagues for their professionalism and teamwork throughout the incident.

As always, if you see our emergency services at work, please give them plenty of space so they can carry out their duties safely and efficiently.

🚛 CASINO TRUCK SHOW 2026 IS HERE🚛

This Friday and Saturday the streets of Casino will once again come alive as the Casino Truck Show rolls into town!

This year, our friends from the NSW Rural Fire Service have the honour of leading the Friday night parade, and VRA Rescue NSW - Casino will proudly be bringing up the rear.

So, when you spot our brand-new Heavy Rescue Truck, you’ll know you’ve reached the end of the parade… but don’t head home just yet!

🚨 Come and see us on Saturday! 🚨

We’ll have our new Heavy Rescue Truck on display amongst the hundreds of incredible trucks on Barker Street, outside the old service station (weather permitting).

Our members will be on hand to answer your questions, show you around the truck, chat about what we do in the community, and we’ll even have FREE VRA Rescue NSW merchandise for the early birds (while stocks last)!

Whether you’re a truck enthusiast, supporting a local charity, or just looking for a great family day out, be sure to stop by and say hello.

We can’t wait to see everyone at one of Casino’s biggest and best community events!
