Today we mourn the loss of another great Australian of the Year, Professor Richard Scolyer AO.
Our thought are with Richard’s family, friends and colleagues.

Remembering an extraordinary Australian.

Professor Richard Scolyer AO, joint 2024 Australian of the Year, lived with courage, generosity and a deep commitment to helping others.

Through his pioneering work in melanoma treatment, Richard helped change what was possible for people and families facing an incredibly difficult diagnosis.

When faced with his own cancer journey, he continued to share his experience with openness and bravery, in the hope it may help others.

Our thoughts are with Richard’s wife Katie, his family, friends, colleagues and all those mourning his loss.

RUN FOR GOOD was so special!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Darwin Waterfront to meet 2025 Young Australian of the Year Nedd Brockmann, run with us, and celebrate the people doing good in our community.

We loved getting to sit down with Nedd, and Australian of the Year nominees Lila Tonkin and Peter Susanto, for a candid Q&A afterwards.

Do you know someone who's doing good in the Territory? Nominations for the 2027 Australian of the Year Awards close at midnight on 31 July 2026. Head to australianoftheyear.org.au/nominate to put them forward.

Our thoughts are with Daniher family as we mourn the loss of this incredible man.

Australia has lost an extraordinary person in Neale Daniher AO, 2025 Australian of the Year.

Neale inspired the nation with his courage, resilience, and unwavering determination to create change in the fight against motor neurone disease.

His impact will be felt for generations through the awareness he raised, the funds he helped inspire, and the hope he gave to so many.

Our thoughts are with Neale’s family, friends, colleagues, and the wider community mourning his loss.

Good happens in the NT every single day. It can look like...

🏊 A volunteer making sure every kid gets a chance to learn to swim.
🥘 A community coming together to feed and support those doing it tough.
🤝 A young person travelling to remote communities to lead workshops on culture, kinship and connection to Country.

People are Doing Good all around us. Do you know someone who deserves to be recognised for it?

⭐️Congratulations Dr Felix Ho ASM OAM! We are so proud to have you as our 2026 NT Australian of the Year!
Australian of the Year Awards

Today we celebrate Dr Felix Ho ASM OAM — an extraordinary volunteer whose dedication, leadership, and compassion continue to inspire communities across the Northern Territory and Australia. 💛

Felix has dedicated more than three decades to volunteering, beginning with St John Ambulance cadets at just 13 years old. Since then, he has become a highly respected volunteer leader, clinician, mentor, and advocate for young people and community wellbeing.

In 2024 alone, Felix contributed more than 800 volunteer hours supporting over 2,500 young people and volunteers across Australia through his role with St John Ambulance. He has also played an important role in disaster preparedness, emergency response training, youth development, and community first aid services.

Balancing all of this alongside full-time work, Felix continues to lead with humility, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

Felix is also proudly representing the Northern Territory as an NT Finalist for the Australian Volunteer of the Year Award — a truly well-deserved recognition of his outstanding contribution to volunteering and community service.

Today, we celebrate you, Felix, and we are all rooting for you! 👏
