Thank you, Southern Tasmania, for helping us reach another milestone - 8 million containers processed!

We cannot believe that in just 10 months since launching our Recycle Rewards Depot in Goodwood, the ongoing support from the community has helped us reach this incredible milestone!

That’s 8 million containers diverted from landfill, over $800,000 back in the community and many new work and training opportunities for people with disability!

To mark the milestone, we gave away a $100 SEED Gardening Services voucher to a randomly selected customer. The winner was a regular visitor who often arrives with a boot full of containers in SEED bags, loves the convenience of our drive‑thru, and appreciates that we can process up to 200 containers per minute!

Thank you to everyone who has dropped off their containers, told their friends and family about the depot, and supported our Container Collection Scheme. Your support has helped us to reach this milestone and continue to provide meaningful work and training opportunities to people with disability.

Come visit us at the end of Hornby Road with your eligible containers - Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm, and Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Anzac Day Depot Closure Notice: Just a quick reminder that the depot will be closed this Saturday, 25 April, for Anzac Day, and will reopen on Monday, 27 April.

On to the next milestone of 9 million containers!

Thank you to Customs House Hotel for supporting both SEED and blind and low vision cricket by signing up for our Container Collection Service (CCS) and choosing to donate their container refunds to Inclusive Innovations Tasmania.

As part of this service, our team will provide collection bins at the Customs House Hotel, conduct regular pick-ups, and process containers at our Recycle Rewards Depot in Goodwood.

This partnership helps make container recycling easy and hassle-free for the Customs House Hotel whilst also supporting accessible sporting opportunities for people with blindness and low vision, and contributing to SEED's mission to provide inclusive and innovative employment and training opportunities for people with disability.

We provide our CCS to organisations of all sizes - please visit our website for more information on CCS and how our team can help you:

Turning Containers Into BLV Cricket Opportunities 🏏♻️

Customs House Hotel, Inclusive Innovations Tasmania (IIT) and Social Enterprise, Employment and Diversity (SEED) have joined forces to leverage the Recycle Rewards Scheme, turning eligible containers into funding that will help grow Blind Cricket Tasmania (BCT) activities across the state.

SEED is a social enterprise running Tasmania's biggest recycling depot in the South of the state. Their recycle container collection service also creates paid employment opportunities for people living with disability, making this partnership a true win-win for community inclusion.

Customs House owner, Paul Jubb, jumped at the opportunity to redirect containers from the pub to support IIT and BCT, backing a simple idea with real impact...

"𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙣𝙮 𝙩𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝘽𝙇𝙑 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙩 '𝙏𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙨' 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙪𝙥 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙄 𝙟𝙪𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙤𝙪𝙩."

We’re incredibly grateful for Paul’s support and shared vision in helping make inclusion mainstream through sport - and showing how local businesses like his can play a meaningful role in helping build sustainable, accessible sports opportunities for people living with vision impairment.

Thanks also to SEED, who are a key partner in bringing this initiative to life.

That's real teamwork in action!

Our team had a great time attending the Hilltop Gala Dinner in support of their mission to raise awareness and vital funds for mental health and su***de prevention in the Huon region.

We were hosted by our parent organisation, Nexus, and were pleased to also be joined by Sam and Britt from the CP Group, who are currently working with SEED on some exciting upcoming collaborations.

Thank you to Hilltop Hike for hosting a great evening supporting an important community cause, and for their ongoing efforts to raise mental health awareness through the annual Hilltop Hike.

7 Million Containers and Counting – Thank You, Southern Tasmania!

Autumn kicked off with some busy days at our Goodwood depot and, thanks to your steady support, we reached the seven million container milestone yesterday!

To celebrate reaching seven million containers, we gave away a $100 SEED Gardening Service voucher to a randomly selected customer — and this time it was one of our frequent visitors, Yiorwo! Yiorwo has supported our depot from the very beginning and loves the convenience of the depot, as well as supporting SEED’s mission by bringing his containers to us.

Thank you for your support, Yiorwo and to everyone who has dropped off their containers, told their friends and family about the depot, and supported our Container Collection Scheme. Your support has helped us to reach this milestone and continue to provide meaningful work and training opportunities to people with disability.

Come visit us at the end of Hornby Road with your eligible containers - Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm, and Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

On to the next milestone!

Happy belated International Women's Day!

This month we recognise the women in our SEED team who champion inclusive and innovative employment and training opportunities, and who are changing perceptions about the contributions that people with disability make to the workforce.

For this International Women’s Day, we asked our General Manager, Jackie, to share the challenges women with disability still face in the community, her journey as General Manager at SEED, and the positive impact women with disability make when given genuine opportunities.

Jackie says many young women with disability still miss out on meaningful work early on:

“A lot of women I meet have never had the chance to do work experience in high school or to plan a career in college. And when opportunities do come up, they are often limited to very traditional roles. Those roles are fine — but only if they are a choice, not the only option,” Jackie said.

“At SEED, we don’t focus on gender when assigning a job. If you are motivated, the opportunity is there. And when young women see other women working in these roles, it genuinely opens up possibilities. If you can’t see it, you can’t be it,” she said.

Jackie also reflected on her own journey growing SEED in her role as General Manager.

“My role has evolved as SEED has grown - starting small, biting off more than we could chew, and chewing hard and fast!” Jackie said.

“I grew up around people who didn’t see gender, just attitude and ability. That’s shaped how I work. And we have a team - men and women - who share skills, back each other, and respect people. In that way, we are very much successful as a team,” she said.

“In light of International Women’s Day, I think it’s important to highlight the role everyone, of any gender, plays in the success of women. When we all back each other, equality can actually happen.”

Service Update – Recycle Rewards Depot Goodwood

We are currently experiencing some delays at our depot due to a technical issue with one of our singulator machines.

With another machine fully operational, you can still drop off your containers at our undercover depot; however, the delay is approximately 30 minutes.

Due to these circumstances, as a one‑off, we are happy for customers with their Recycle Rewards app connected to their bank account or preferred charity to leave their containers with us for processing at a later date. Once processed, your refund or donation will go through automatically.

Thank you for your patience while we work to get everything back up and running.
