Cubby House Toy Library

Cubby House Toy Library EarlyEd’s Cubby House Toy Library is an inclusive toy library, supporting families for over 40 years. Play is a great way to support your child’s development.

EarlyEd’s Cubby House Toy Library has over 2,000 toys, games and books suitable for children aged from birth to primary school age. Carefully selected by our educators, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and physiotherapists, these toys provide children with fun opportunities to practice many developmental skills such as gross motor, fine motor, cognitive and language skills. Volunteers

help support the library. Qualified early intervention teachers and therapists can be available, by appointment, to help parents select suitable toys and find ways to support play.

Come and play and listen to our interactive Ready to Learn Online Story Time every Thursday at 10.00am. It’s a great opportunity to support your child’s language and literacy development and connect with other children.
Great whether it is cold or rainy so you can stay inside and play!

What will the story be this week?
Sometimes I Like to curl up in a ball by Vicki Churchill and Charles Fuge.

Little Wombat loves to do so many different things. He likes to jump as high as he can, scream out loud, walk round and round and sometimes stand up tall as still as can be. But at the end of the day when the sun goes down, all Wombat wants to do is find somewhere cosy to sleep.

This book is easy to read and follow. The pictures are fun, bright and full of adventure. The text uses repeated phrases eg “Sometimes I like – “. This builds familiarity, prediction and anticipation.

2. Thursday 28 May 2026 10.00am - Our weekly Online Storytime.

What will the story be this week?
Ten in the bed by Penny Dale

There were 10 in the bed and little one said “roll over, roll over” so they all rolled over and one fell out!
Let’s have some fun as we sing along to this song during Storytime. Ten in the bed is a story about a little boy who snuggles up in bed with 9 of his cuddly toy animals. But feeling squishy, he starts to throw each cuddly toy out one at a time. Finally, when there was only one in the bed the little boy realises it’s cold without his cuddly animals, so they all jump back.

Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 12.00pm and Thursday 28 May 2026 at 10.00am

EarlyEd is participating in the ALIA National Simultaneous Storytime.
which is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.

What will the story be?
Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson, Adrian Lloyd, Jake A Minton.

Luna Roo is one of the youngest players on the team, and being captain feels like a big job. She makes a few mistakes, and feels her confidence slip but together, they find their confidence and go back out ready to try their best.
Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller uses playful, rhythmic rhyming text that’s fun to listen to and read aloud together.
Come join us, along with many children across the country as we read Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller during National Simultaneous Storytime.

EarlyEd Storytimes are for all children and ideal for children who have delays in development. They are brought to you by our early childhood intervention team. This interactive and supportive storytime session is designed to support children to join in who might find storytimes challenging. It includes singing, dancing, reading and a follow up activity. During the session, visuals and Key Word Sign will be used to help children follow the session and story.

Recycle your bottles with this is a fun little game that all the family can enjoy and can be played inside or outside. Simply set them up in a triangle shape in rows – one skittle, two skittles, three and four skittles in each row. You might even like to decorate the bottles.
Play the game with your family – who can knock down the most skittles and be the champion?

Here is a great use of things around the home that we often have lots of and never have enough uses for. So let's play.
Using the rubber bands from the vegetable bunches that we buy at the shop creates an activity that the whole family can enjoy. We can make so many different things.
Try a face. What kind of expression does it have? Is it happy, sad, worried or scared. You can even cut the rubber bands in half and use it for the mouth.
What about a shape? Can you make a circle or oval but can you make a square?
For more ideas about how to play with rubber bands go to our Start Strong page

National Volunteer Week honours the contributions of volunteers and their meaningful involvement in activities that provide parents with the extra support they need to help their child learn and develop.

EarlyEd recognises the vital role volunteers play in helping us do more to support families.

Our volunteers help us create resources, give families access to toys through our toy library, help our playgroups run smoothly and give parents a break so they can discuss their concerns with our team members at playgroup.

This year why don't you discover how volunteering can create connection, purpose, and lasting positive change for families.

Call us on 99232727 or check out how to be involved at https://www.earlyed.com.au/get-involved/volunteer/ or

What will the story be this week?
We’re going on a bear hunt by Michael Rosen

Tiptoe, Tiptoe, Tiptoe, WHAT’S THAT????
A family and their pet dog decide to embark on an adventure in search of a bear. Along the way they are faced with many obstacles. They swish through the grass, splash through the river and squelch through the mud until they reach the cave where a surprise awaits them.

With lots of repetition, rhyme and opportunities for movement, this book invites children to join in, to do the actions, make the sounds and say the words, supporting early language development, listening skills, building on their imagination and sense of wonder.
The rhythmic flow encourages singing, chanting and moving to the beat of the words. You can extend your child’s interest by introducing musical instruments or things around the house to match the sounds and movement in the book.
