On the 3rd of September, Ella, Jemma, Ashley, Whalun, Liam and Miley volunteered as coaches at the annual All Abilities Day at Barlow Park. Ella, Whalun and Liam coached students with a disability in touch football, while Jemma, Ashley and Miley led athletics, coaching students in throwing Shot Puts, Turbo Javelins and Vortexes to the delight of all.

Our coaches excelled with schools impressed by their coaching and Gordonvale SHS being the only school running sport rotations over the day. Well done coaches!

What a fantastic day we had at All Abilities Day!

A huge thank you to all the amazing coaches who made the day so special. It was a wonderful day out, filled with fun, laughter and so many smiles!

What an incredible evening we enjoyed at the Gordonvale State High School VIVID Festival!

The school was buzzing with excitement as students, families, future students, staff, and community members came together to celebrate everything that makes our school great. From the Pathways and Wellbeing Expo and the entertaining Students vs Teachers Touch Footy Match, to the wide range of displays, performances, workshops, activities, and food stalls, there was truly something for everyone.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was fantastic, with hundreds of visitors exploring the campus, participating in activities, and enjoying the many opportunities on offer. It was wonderful to see our students proudly showcasing their talents, achievements, and learning to the wider community. We were also thrilled with the outstanding turnout for the Year 6 Transition Tour, with many future students and their families taking the opportunity to explore the school and learn more about the exciting opportunities available at Gordonvale State High School.

A huge thank you to our staff, students, families, volunteers, P&C, community partners, and performers whose hard work and support made the event such a success. Events like VIVID highlight the strong partnerships that exist within our community and the pride we all share in Gordonvale State High School.

We are incredibly grateful for the outstanding turnout and look forward to building on the success of this year's event in the future.

PENINSULA 10-19'S TRACK AND FIELD TEAM

Congratulations to Year 7 David, Year 8 Marcus, Year 10 Amos and Year 12 students Josh and Jemma who all were selected in the Peninsula 10-19s Track and Field Team and will compete at the QRSS State Championships in Brisbane from 11-18th October.

Gordonvale Gladiators take on NQ All Schools

Over the weekend 2 teams from Gordonvale SHS competed at the NQ All Schools touch football competition in Townsville. The open mixed team played like pros, winning 6 out of 7 round games convincingly, and winning their quarterfinal, making it to the semifinals. Unfortunately, GSHS went down in their semifinal placing third overall for the carnival. Mackenna was voted players player for the carnival, showing true sportsmanship and skill on and off the field.

The junior mixed team had a ball, most experiencing a touch carnival for the first time. They gave it a go, having fun and learning a new sport.

A big thank you must go to Miss Gammie, Miss Goggin and Mr Skaife for planning, committing to and supervising students at the carnival. These events don't go ahead without a dedicated team of teachers willing to give up their time to attend these trips.

The opens mixed team is now looking forward to the Qld All Schools carnival on the Gold Coast in October.
