For the love of food! 🍌🍅🌱

Everyone deserves access to good, healthy, and affordable food. That’s why we’re coming together again to learn more about how food is grown and shared right here in our local community.

You’re invited to be part of this collaborative effort bringing together farmers, educators, faith groups, community organisations, and local residents. Together, we’ll explore practical ways to build food knowledge, improve health, and strengthen wellbeing in Gordonvale.

Come along, connect, and be part of the conversation!

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT DAY

On Thursday, 19 of our 21 Junior and Senior House Leaders and School Captains represented Gordonvale State High School at our first Leadership Development Day held at the Holloways Beach Environmental Education Centre. The day, organised by our House Coordinators, challenged students to step outside their comfort zones as they tackled the high ropes course and worked together through a range of team building activities. It was fantastic to see students encouraging one another, overcoming nerves, building confidence and demonstrating resilience throughout the day.

This Leadership Development Day is the first of three leadership opportunities proudly sponsored by the Gordonvale SHS P&C Association and organised in collaboration with our House Leadership teams. These experiences are designed to strengthen communication, teamwork and leadership capacity across our student leaders, while also building positive connections between students from all four houses. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented themselves and the school community yesterday and look forward to seeing their leadership continue to grow across the year.

Gordonvale State High School is bursting with pride! From 2017 to 2021, Gabriel Satrick walked our school as a high-energy, incredibly promising football player. This Friday, 22 May, he makes his official NRL Debut for the Melbourne Storm! He has been named in the lineup as the Jersey #14 impact player on the Interchange bench, ready to inject his signature explosive energy as ho**er against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs!

To celebrate this massive local milestone, we are holding a special School Jersey Day this Friday!

🛑 Important Note

ATHLETICS DAY

Pre events begin in week 7 this term starting with a week of triple jump. Students competing and marshalling need to meet Mr Troyhan and Mr Govan at the triple jump pits on Monday second break and Wednesday first break as soon as the bell goes. Week 8 is 800m on Monday second and Wednesday first break. Week 9 finishes with the 1500m on Monday second break, then we run catch up events according to the schedule. Make sure you’re there on time and come and have a go to earn house points and yourself a spot on the TCS team.

Athletics Carnival this year is on Wednesday the 24th of June. School dress theme is being confirmed soon so be ready to dress to impress. The day will begin with House Group in the stadium followed by wrist bands handed out then we will do a march past to D block and then our war cries. Students will compete all day, wearing sunscreen while hydrating, against other students their age for house points, Age Champion and spots in the TCS athletics team.

Look out for posters with information around the school and pre-event timetables in notices and on Facebook. Parents are welcome to attend and support after signing in at the office. Be ready for record breaking efforts and smiles all around.
