Forest Education Foundation Incursions
Students from Years 1 to 6 recently enjoyed engaging, hands-on learning experiences with Emily and Kate from the Forest Education Foundation. Throughout the incursions, students explored a fascinating museum of forest inhabitants and forest products, discovering the many plants, animals, and resources that forests provide.
Students also worked collaboratively to build models of temperate rainforests and wet and dry eucalypt forests, developing their understanding of forest ecosystems and habitats. These interactive activities encouraged curiosity and teamwork while helping students connect classroom learning with the natural environment.
Year 5 and 6 students made connections between Tasmania's landforms and physical conditions and the different forest types found across the state, deepening their understanding of how environmental factors influence ecosystems.
We thank Emily and Kate for delivering such informative and memorable sessions that inspired students to learn more about Tasmania's forests and the important role they play in our environment and communities.

A 10-year-old Launceston boy has been awarded a certificate of bravery after alerting his mum to a kitchen fire and evacuating his baby sister.

On Thursday 29 October the Summerdale Primary School Fundraising Committee will be holding their major fundraiser for 2026 to help raise funds for a permanent Gaga Pit for our students!
Students will make their way around the oval while being sprayed with water mist and covered in colourful powder. It’s sure to be an afternoon full of fun, colour and plenty of laughs!
