4.

The Leeman and Green Head Community Resource Centre is a not for profit organisation servicing our local region, including Green Head, Leeman, Eneabba and surrounding areas. We are part of a network of over 100 CRC’s located in small rural communities around WA which provides access to learning opportunities, primarily in Information Technology, as well as other contracted services and to increase

and promote Community Development Activities. The Community Resource Centre delivers a range of services and programmes,
These include training courses, office facilities for rent, experienced staff, to assist with office duties as well as handle general enquiries. Our focus
• Increased awareness in the local community and promotion of our support from the Department of Regional Development and Lands and Royalties for Regions together with the Community Resource Network.
• Promote and maintain our commitment to the awareness that The Community Resource Centre serves a social purpose by focusing on people in the community eg. Local groups, choir, craft groups etc
• Actively seek partnerships by offering time, people, resources, skills and expertise
• Provision of training for unemployed and unskilled by way of the First Click Programme as well as general assistance to our daily customers.
• Focus on Building a network that provides training, technical assistance and other services to improve our network
• The establishment of a Trash to Treasure Yard which allows the local volunteers and community to benefit from low cost items that would be discarded as well as taking the pressure off the tip
• The establishment of a gallery and point of sale focus at the CRC for local artists and crafts people with the goal of drawing on the new tourist trade.
• Work with local community groups, Police (we had a juvenile offender do his community service at the CRC), develop a relationship with local progress association to assist with improvements to our Community
• Increase the profile of our local newspaper the Snag Island News
1. by increasing the circulation to other small towns in the area which has been done with Jurien Bay, Dongara, and Eneabba now on our circulation . This to some extent has been difficult as delivery is sometimes an issue with the out of the way towns.
2. Develop a tourist section within the paper both for visiting tourists as well as advertising of local attractions events and businesses (Sea Lion Charters etc)
3. Increase the advertising and local input
5. Continual promotion of the CRC Network and our Sponsors, Department of Regional Development and Lands, Royalties for Regions and Lottery West.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND A NEW DATE WILL BE CONFIRMED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Come along and meet artist Emmaline James for a relaxed, hands-on creative workshop.
We’ll have plenty of light refreshments to keep the creative juices flowing, so feel free to grab a snack and a drink while you dive into the art. It’s a totally free event and you don’t need to worry about booking a spot ahead of time, just come along.

Friday 22nd May 10am - 1pm
Leeman CRC, 2 Spencer Street, Leeman
About Emmaline’s Workshops:
Join Emmaline James for a reflective and creative workshop, exploring how art can help us map place, memory, and the subtle connections that shape our lives.
Drawing from her encaustic collage series 'Learning to Fly', Emmaline will guide participants through the process of creating a layered collage artwork on board that will be sealed in encaustic wax, offering a wonderful introduction to the luminous and tactile process of encaustic painting.

Participants are invited to bring photocopies of personal photos, and drawing, and imagery are further inspired by the surrounding landscape that influence a sense of belonging. No prior experience is required. The session is designed as a welcoming space for creative exploration, conversation and community connection, where art becomes a way of seeing ourselves, each other, and the places we inhabit with fresh awareness.

Participants will leave with their own encaustic-sealed collage artwork, capturing a moment of reflection on place, memory, and shared human connection.

We look forward to seeing you!
