The 2026 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards recognised 16 exceptional older Victorians.
Their generosity, advocacy and commitment show how to live with purpose, at every age!
Their skills, time and energy make a difference through actions such as:
⭐ hands-on support with nutrition and social connection
⭐ navigating emergencies, language barriers and healthcare systems
⭐ empowering others to give back and build better futures for all.
Congratulations to all nominees and award recipients. Thank you for helping to make our state stronger.

The Victorian Government has launched Ageing well in Victoria action plan 2026–2030: strengthening wellbeing for older people.
There is no single experience of ageing in Victoria. Older people are diverse with different cultures, identities and life experiences. The action plan focuses on the areas that matter most to older people:
• staying connected to family, friends and communities
• staying independent and ageing well at home
• having access to services and support when needed
• feeling safe, respected and included.
Together, we can continue building a society where everyone can age well.

Longer lives are one of humanity's greatest achievements, but society must evolve alongside them. This International Day of Older Persons, we are joining the global call to rethink our systems, from workplaces to healthcare, ensuring they support dignity, equality, and connection at every stage of life.
Let's see the individual, not the stereotype.
