๐ŸšงSouthern Ports Highway Roadworks Update ๐Ÿšง

Unfortunately, recent weather has delayed sealing on the Southern Ports Highway. As a result, roadworks between the Southend and Robe turn will continue until it can be completed.
What you need to know:
โ€ข ๐Ÿšซ Road closed to the public 7amโ€“5pm, Monday to Friday (Permits required - otherwise detour via Hatherleigh)
โ€ข โœ… Open overnight, weekends and public holidays (delays expected)
โ€ข โš ๏ธ Speed restrictions and signage remain in place
โ€ข ๐Ÿš— Beachportโ€“Millicent travellers are encouraged to keep using the Hatherleigh detour to protect the road surface

Once weather allows and the seal is in place, works will pause and the road will reopen for winter. Works will resume in September, with completion expected before Christmas.

We thank the community for slowing down and protecting the road.

๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’™Community Update: Domain Parklands Blue Tree ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒณ
Council wishes to advise the community that, after careful assessment, the difficult decision has been made to remove the Blue Tree located in the Domain Parklands. Unfortunately, the tree has been found to be rotting and now presents a potential safety risk to the public.

This dead tree trunk was originally relocated from the Millicent Swimming Lake and painted blue as part of the Blue Tree Project, an initiative that uses painted dead trees as a powerful visual reminder to check in on your mental health and to support friends and family.

Council has been in contact with the Wattle Range Su***de Prevention Network notifying them of the removal and recognises the important message the Blue Tree has represented in our community.
While the tree itself will be removed, Council remains committed to raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing. We will continue to explore meaningful ways to support this important cause, including initiatives such as lighting up the โ€˜Handโ€™ in blue on significant days like World Mental Health Day.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Please remember: itโ€™s always okay to check in, reach out, and talk. You are not alone.
