Council’s page is not the correct place to report dangerous situations or urgent issues. The Works Under Contract (WUC) is for the tree removal required for the future upgrade of the 9.6-kilometre section of Rangari Road in the Narrabri Shire Council local government area.

There's still time to review Narrabri Shire Council's draft 2026/2027 Operational Plan and supporting documents and provide your feedback.

These documents outline Council's proposed priorities, services, budget, fees and charges, and capital works program for the year ahead.

Community feedback is an important part of the process and helps Council understand what matters most to our residents, businesses and communities across the Shire.

Our Water Team is working to fix a water main break, which is affecting properties along Gleeson Avenue and William Morris Avenue, Narrabri.

Water is expected to be out for around an hour.

Violet Street Bridge update 👷

Piling works are continuing on foundations for the new Violet Street bridge. 📸 below.

✅ Driving of Pier 1 piles are continuing this week. This will be followed by Abutment A piling works. Abutment B, Pier 3 and Pier 2 piles are in place.

Construction of Abutment B is also in progress.

💧 Works on the installation of a new water main along Balonne Street (from Doyle Street to Bowen Street) has been completed with restoration works now taking place.
🦺 Following wet weather, works are continuing on Westport Road for the gravel resheeting program.
👷‍♂️ Tender for tree removal as part of the Rangari Road upgrade is currently being advertised.
🚧 Signage works and site tidy up taking place on the Harparary Road upgrade between Browns Lane and Harparary Bridge.
✅Essential maintenance to sewer mains in Narrabri North are continuing.
🚜 Works are progressing on the construction of new cells 2 and 3 at the Narrabri Waste Management Facility.
♻️ General waste clean up at Shire transfer stations.
