Men account for 3 in 4 su***des in Australia, yet across many services, up to 4 in 5 people accessing su***de prevention support are female. That gap tells us something important: as a sector, we need to get better at reaching men.

That's why the Tasmanian Su***de Prevention Community Network is sharing this opportunity: Reaching Men, a free online training delivered by the Australian Men's Health Forum, designed for anyone working in su***de prevention, mental health, or community support.

This half-day workshop will help expand your understanding of male su***de, explore what male-friendly services actually look like, and strengthen your confidence and capacity to engage with men at risk. You'll also have space to reflect on the changes our sector can make, and leave with a practical plan for applying what you've learned.

National Su***de Prevention Outcomes Framework – A Step Forward for Australia.

The TSPCN welcomes the release of the National Su***de Prevention Outcomes Framework Outcomes Map.

This important framework provides a shared way to measure the factors that contribute to su***de prevention and wellbeing, helping strengthen accountability and ensure efforts across Australia are making a meaningful difference.

By focusing on outcomes and not just activities it supports a more coordinated, evidence-informed approach to creating safer, more connected communities.

We encourage our members and stakeholders to learn more and explore how this framework can support our collective work in su***de prevention. 💙

Su***de Prevention Australia welcomes the newly released National Su***de Prevention Outcomes Map and recognises the important progress it represents.

The milestone initiative provides a comprehensive way of measuring not only suicidal distress, but also the broad range of factors that can contribute to it. These measurements will allow assessment of if, and to what extent, progress is being made towards a world without su***de.

This is a key component of the National Su***de Prevention Strategy and an important step forward in strengthening how we track outcomes and accountability in su***de prevention policy.

We commend Assistant Minister The Hon Emma McBride MP for championing this work, the National Su***de Prevention Office for leading a robust development process, and the Australian Government for introducing this important tool to guide policy and improve accountability.

Last night Mariah and Louise of the NAWIC Tasmanian Chapter travelled to Sydney to represent as National Finalists in the Best Practise in a Workplace for the 2026 Life Awards. A special thank you to Relationships Australia Tasmania for supporting us to attend this incredible evening.

The team were so proud to be recognised and this showcases the strength and diversity of the work by our incredible communities across the country in active prevention of su***de. The lived experiences shared translated into passion to improve the lives of the many and our community is no exception.

This opportunity to celebrate, reflect and connect was invaluable for the team and a great way to shed light on the continued impacts on our industry when we don't priortise action to have fair, respectful and inclusive workplaces across the sector.

We see the power of our incredible NAWIC network - who this recogition truely belongs to! Congratulations to you all and thank you.

A united Tasmanian presence at this week’s National Su***de Prevention Conference in Sydney, hosted by Su***de Prevention Australia 💙

Representing communities from across the state, members of the Tasmanian Su***de Prevention Community Network came together from service providers, government, community-led programs, and lived experience, all connected by a shared commit to su***de prevention and a brighter future.

With this year’s theme, United Voices, Brighter Futures, it was inspiring to see such a strong Tasmanian presence. Across the week, there was a natural pull towards one another, sharing ideas, strengthening connections, building momentum, and supporting each other along the way.

Through out the conference, there was a wide mix of thought provoking speakers, people sharing their lived and living experience, along with professionals, researchers, community members, and volunteers. Everyone brought experience, expertise, and courage to su***de prevention.

Some Tassie highlights included Amanda from Mental Health Council of Tasmania sharing insights from the development of the Take a minute. mental wellbeing literacy campaign.

We also saw Laura and the team from THEIRS lead a practical session amplifying youth voices, demonstrating how young people’s perspectives can shape community-led su***de prevention.

Both were brilliant reflections of the meaningful and impactful work happening across the state.

And of course we were SO excited to hear that next year’s conference will be held in Hobart, a fantastic opportunity for Tasmania to host and contribute to the national conversation.
