Future of Tennis In Gove!
The Gove Peninsula Tennis Club is seeking community assistance to raise funds for the development of 3 NEW tennis courts to be located alongside the new Cyclone Shelter.
Our current site is on private land that will be taken back by the owners. We are working with the owners to extend our tenure past August 2027, but an extension is only a temporary solution. Gove Peninsula Tennis Club needs a permanent home to have a future.
To date, we have been unsuccessful with negotiations with Rio Tinto to assist us with funding assistance so we will be raising the funds through public requests and fundraising events.
To kick start our goal of $1,000,000, Tennis Australia have contributed $100,000. And at this stage the club has $50,000 of its own contributions.
We are currently in discussions with the Northern Territory Government working on a grant submission. And looking at other areas to source grants from.

Cardio dance tonight! This week, we’ll be dancing while also coming together to support people affected by the recent earthquake in Colombia.

Proceeds from the class will be donated to the Colombian Red Cross to support their relief efforts.

And that’s a wrap for the 2026 National Indigenous Tennis Carnival.
Our amazing Red Ball team finished 4th from 9 teams and our Green Ball team finished 6th from 8 teams, achieving two wins over ACT and Tasmania. An amazing effort considering for most of the team it was their first tournament

Our teams were made up of the following players:
Green Ball:

After closing ceremony everyone played in the 1 point slam with Kayle making it to the 1/4 final.
Some lunch and then off to Casuarina for some shopping.
We then went back to the motel before heading out for dinner on Mindil beach to watch the sunset we took the kids to the NIMAS music festival.
Everyone looking forward to going home.

Thanks team Tennis Australia and Tennis NT for another amazing event and to all the other organisations that helped bring this together.
To all the amazing team players and officials I think this was the friendliest games I’ve attended 👏👏👏

My long time friend Ian Goolagong it was great to see you. It may only be once a year but it is great to see you.
My heart is full watching our kids come together and be a team and embrace the experience. To our amazing youth workers you all rock.

Day 3 NITC
Wow! What a day we have had today.
Two rounds of matches.
Our Green Ball team’s first match was against ACT. Such an awesome group of people. All players took to the court having fun and wishing each other luck.
But our East Arnhem young guns were on a mission and won every match. It was now to the play offs and we were back up against Victoria. All the kids gave it their best shot but Vic were too strong for us only getting one win on the board. The kids did themselves proud and hopefully have a few takeaways.

Our Red Ball team won their first round today but just missed out for the finals playoff by 1 pt. An amazing effort by all.

And then the finale for the day, Ash Barty arrives at the centre. Kids following her everywhere but little did our kids know they got a special session with her and a team photo. It was awesome to see her interact with our mob.
But it did not stop there. Following dinner another surprise was Young Miller performing and the kids and Youth Workers got to dance with him and the dance crew. So good to watch.
