❌ Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre – NO Alcohol Policy ❌

The Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre would like to remind all patrons that the facility operates under a strict NO Alcohol Policy.

The safety and wellbeing of our patrons, staff and visitors is paramount. To ensure the Aquatic Centre remains a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, the following rules apply:

🚫 NO alcohol may be consumed within the facility.
🚫 NO alcohol may be brought onto the premises.
🚫 Patrons must not enter or remain at the facility while under the influence of alcohol.
🚫 Our policy is 0% alcohol and there are NO exceptions.

We do not take this policy lightly. Anyone who does not follow these rules will be immediately asked to leave the facility. Further action may also be taken, including the suspension or cancellation of memberships and/or bans from the facility.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment. The safety of our patrons is paramount & we thank the majority that do the right thing.

With a Gove Peninsula-wide power outage scheduled between 8am and 4pm this Sunday 16th August, the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre will be open from 8am to 6pm!

🧺 Picnic Day in the NT – A Tradition Worth Celebrating 🌴

Did you know Picnic Day has been part of Territory life for more than 100 years?

The tradition began in the early 1900s, when workers on the North Australia Railway gathered for a union picnic at Adelaide River. By the 1940s, Picnic Day had become an official public holiday, recognising the contribution of workers and providing a well-earned day to relax, connect with family and friends, and enjoy the outdoors.

Today, Picnic Day is celebrated across the Northern Territory on the first Monday in August. Whether you're heading off on a camping trip, spending time with loved ones, or simply enjoying a slower pace at the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre, it's a long weekend that's uniquely Territorian.

That means the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre will be open from 10am to 4pm.

🚨 State of Origin Decider Alert! 🚨

Tonight it's Game III of the 2026 Men's State of Origin series at Suncorp Stadium, and just like the rest of Australia, Nhulunbuy will have all eyes glued to the telly for what should be an absolute cracker!

Lets just hope we don't get those water leaks again like post Game 2. 😂

By morning, the flag at half-mast will be the dead giveaway as to which state is in mourning, while the other enjoys 12 months of unbearable bragging rights.

We are incredibly lucky at the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre to have such amazing staff members, which makes it even harder when it’s time to say goodbye.

Today we are sadly farewelling Celia, who has been an absolute gem to have as part of our team.

Celia brought another level of professionalism to the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre through her positive bubbly attitude, reliability and genuine care for both patrons and staff. Her dedication across all aspects of the pool operations, along with the support she provided to both senior staff and our casual team members alike, will certainly be missed.

Thankfully, the town hasn’t lost Celia, which is fantastic news, and we look forward to seeing her back visiting us at the pool soon.

On behalf of all of us at the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre team & the wider Nhulunbuy Corporation staff, we would like to say thank you Celia, and wish you all the very best for your next chapter.

Please be advised that due to the current water main burst outside of the Nhulunbuy Aquatic Centre, the pool toilets are now affected and are no longer operational.
As the pool water is beautiful & clean, we ask patrons to avoid any unnecessary refills.
Unfortunately this means we will be closing the pool gates until the water supply has been restored.
We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
