Nepal changed my life, years ago. The lifestyle of the people, their laughter. I’m 6 months out of the London stockbroker suit, wandering through the mountains of Pokhara. In the villages I wondered at how happy these people were. Hashish was legal then and sold everywhere, cheap as chips. 1973, just before America and the UN pressured Nepal to make w**d illegal. In Nepal, 8 years ago, it was extremely hard to find hash.

🚨 SATURDAY MORNING WAKE UP CALL 🚨

YOU CAN BE LEGALLY PRESCRIBED CANNABIS… AND STILL LOSE YOUR LICENCE FOR HAVING THC IN YOUR SYSTEM. Yep. Read that again! This week, cannabis patients and drug law reform campaigners took their fight to Queensland Parliament because Queensland is pushing ahead with tougher roadside drug driving laws while medicinal cannabis patients are saying something pretty bloody obvious, detecting THC is NOT the same thing as proving someone is impaired. A person can take cannabis legally under a doctor’s prescription, follow their treatment plan, feel completely sober and capable of driving… and still test positive because THC can remain detectable after the effects have worn off. That’s the problem at the heart of this fight. We’re not talking about giving genuinely impaired drivers a free pass. Nobody wants stoned people driving. We’re talking about whether the law should punish someone simply because a trace of a legally prescribed medicine is detectable in their body.

And here’s where it gets REALLY interesting… NSW has already been moving in the opposite direction. The NSW Government has introduced reforms that would create a medical pathway for registered medicinal cannabis patients who test positive for THC, rather than automatically treating every positive result as a criminal offence. Meanwhile Queensland patients are still staring down a zero tolerance system. So we’ve got one country, two neighbouring states, two very different approaches and one massive question: 🌿 SHOULD THE LAW TEST FOR IMPAIRMENT… OR JUST TEST FOR CANNABIS? Because if the purpose of roadside drug testing is to keep impaired drivers off the road, shouldn’t the test actually tell us whether someone is impaired? Or are we still living under drug laws designed for a world where cannabis was simply called an “illegal drug”… while today hundreds of thousands of Australians are legally prescribed it?

And let’s not forget where this conversation started. Nimbin has been banging on about this stuff for decades. The question was never “Should people drive stoned?” The question has always been “Does prohibition actually make people safer?”

So here’s your Saturday morning coffee question ☕🌿 WHAT DO YOU THINK? Should medicinal cannabis patients who are NOT impaired be allowed to drive? Should Australia move from zero tolerance THC testing to genuine impairment testing? Or do you think THC in your system should automatically mean you’re off the road? 👇 HAVE YOUR SAY. And don’t just agree with us. Tell us what you actually think. Because this is exactly the conversation Nimbin was built for 🌈✌️🌿

Like the old days, protesting outside Parliament House Brisbane about RDT. Great crowd, about a hundred, lots of true blue campaigners. Mothers with children, helped by w**d—hundreds of seizures—then with a tiny bit of cannabis they stop. The fact it took epileptic children to make the bastards accept medical value is disgusting. Good luck Dr Craig Buchanan in the Secret Harbour By-election in WA—pre-poll—an orange tsunami!

Thinking about the story from New York last week, the all-in-one permit allows a small operator to cultivate, manufacture and sell w**d at Farmers Markets. “Small craft cannabis cultivators”, sounds like the dream.

“Regulated cannabis proven to be an economic engine for New York” and it could be the same here. Thousands of Aussie tokers would love a small licence. It could be your 6 home grown plants, but you could sell them at the market.

I watched the debate in the NSW Legislative Council on the RDT Bill, which passed the Lower House. Jeremy has bent over backwards to try and get the smallest of changes and it was extremely painful to watch one after another Coalition opponent use up their twenty minute time allocation, until there was no time for a vote. A filibuster! Now we wait another month, with not much time left in NSW before they shut down for the March 2027 Election

NSW Bill to let medical cannabis patients drive passed Legislative Assembly & now goes to Upper House. Transport Minister assured parliament info they want will not link to auto number plate recognition. One thing we need is anyone tested be given results and interstate drivers have an escape clause. It will be a big relief to to drive knowing they can test me twice and I can have any amount of nanograms in my saliva and not lose my licence.

🌿 Full Extract Cannabis Oil 😁 Honouring the Wisdom of the Whole Plant 🌈💚🌈

For generations, people have looked to the natural world for connection, knowledge and healing traditions. Cannabis is one of humanity’s oldest cultivated plants and continues to inspire curiosity, research and conversation around the world.

Full Extract Cannabis Oil, commonly known as FECO, represents a whole plant approach that respects the complexity of the cannabis plant. Rather than focusing on one isolated compound, full spectrum preparations aim to preserve the many natural elements found within the plant, including cannabinoids such as THC, C*D and CBG, aromatic terpenes, flavonoids and other botanical compounds.

The beauty of the cannabis plant comes from the relationship between all of these natural components. The unique combination of cannabinoids and terpenes creates the individual character of each variety, and many people believe the whole plant offers something different from isolated compounds alone.

FECO is commonly explored by people looking for a concentrated form of cannabis that can be used in different preparations, including oral use, capsules, tinctures, edibles and topical products. Within the medicinal cannabis community, people often discuss FECO as part of their personal wellness journey, including for supporting comfort, relaxation, sleep, stress management and general wellbeing.

The creation of a full extract preparation involves carefully drawing out the natural compounds of the cannabis plant and concentrating them into a rich extract that contains the plant’s natural profile.

At the heart of the whole plant philosophy is respect. Respect for the plant, respect for the knowledge passed down through generations, and respect for the importance of education and informed choices.

Cannabis is more than a single molecule. It is a complex botanical gift that connects nature, science, history and community.

🌱 Learn the plant.
🌿 Understand the plant.
🌈 Honour the plant.

Nimbin MardiGrass celebrates cannabis culture, education, community and the ongoing conversation surrounding this remarkable plant.

Rethinking Sleep: Could Cannabis Offer Another Path Beyond Sleeping Pills?

For generations, people struggling with insomnia have been offered one familiar answer, TAKE A PILL 💊 and try to sleep. Millions of people rely on pharmaceutical sleep medications however many are never fully informed about the risks that can come with long term use. Commonly prescribed medications include benzodiazepines such as temazepam and diazepam, Z-drugs such as zolpidem and zopiclone, sedating antidepressants such as amitriptyline and mirtazapine, antihistamine sleep aids and in some cases, antipsychotic medications used off label for sleep. While these medications can help some people, they can also come with concerns including tolerance, dependence, withdrawal difficulties, memory problems, daytime sedation and changes to natural sleep patterns.

For many people the search for better sleep has led them to explore cannabis as another option. Cannabis interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system which plays a role in sleep, stress, mood, pain and relaxation. Many patients report that medicinal cannabis has helped them fall asleep more easily, stay asleep longer, manage pain that keeps them awake and reduce their reliance on other medications. This is not about saying cannabis is a miracle cure or that pharmaceutical medications have no place. It is about choice, education and allowing people to explore all possible options without stigma.

Sleep is not just about being knocked unconscious. It is about restoring the body and mind. For many Australians, medicinal cannabis has provided hope after years of struggling with insomnia, pain, anxiety and medication side effects. How many people are still suffering in silence because they have never been given the opportunity to explore alternatives? Have you or someone you love experienced the challenges of poor sleep or pharmaceutical side effects? It’s time to share our stories, have honest conversations and continue advocating for a future where patients have access to safe, informed and compassionate choices.

Prohibition’s been good at teaching people to lie. We all care about road safety, so why not be transparent about saliva test results? Because they’re using road safety as an arm of the drug war. There’s nothing as effective as RDT in stopping cannabis use... My saliva tested 1200ng, the cop agreed I didn't look impaired. They did trials at Swinburne and buried the results because they showed how hopeless the spit tests are.
