Stonewave Taiko was delighted to perform at the 2026 Bega Chamber of Commerce Customer Services and Business Awards. It was a wonderful opportunity to be part of a special community event and share the energy, excitement and spirit of Japanese taiko drumming with local businesses and guests.

Taiko is more than just music – it combines rhythm, movement and connection, creating a powerful and memorable experience for both performers and audiences. We always enjoy bringing this unique cultural art form to community events and celebrating special occasions together.

Stonewave Taiko is available for performances at festivals, business events, sports openings and grand finals, celebrations, community gatherings, schools and special occasions. We also run interactive taiko workshops where participants can experience the joy of drumming firsthand, regardless of age or experience.

If you would like to add energy, rhythm and a unique cultural experience to your next event, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us on [email protected] or through the website to discuss how we can help make your event memorable.

BARRAGGA YANGGA ARTISTS |

From the Beginning: A Journey of Rhythm and Culture
Stonewave Taiko was born in 2014 in the picturesque town of Bega, New South Wales. Their founder, David Hewitt, envisioned a space where the rich traditions of Japanese taiko drumming would harmoniously blend with the vibrant culture of Australia.

Over the years, what started as a small ensemble has grown to include over 35 enthusiastic members, each bringing their unique background and energy to the group.

At the heart of Stonewave Taiko lies a commitment to fostering a deep appreciation for taiko drumming while creating a distinct local style. By merging traditional Japanese rhythms with contemporary Australian influences, they aim to craft performances that resonate with diverse audiences.

Their dedication to community engagement is evident through regular participation in local festivals and events, as well as educational programs designed to inspire the next generation.
