From the Crop Swap and community painting to live music, dance, delicious food and local produce, there’s plenty to see, do and enjoy.

🚧 Bogan Road upgrade officially opened! 🎉

Today we officially opened the $3.986 million Bogan Road upgrade, marking a major investment in one of the Parkes Shire’s important transport routes.

The project has delivered improvements across around 20 kilometres of Bogan Road, including:

✅ 4km of road reconstruction and seal extension
✅ 16km of previously unsealed road re-sheeted
✅ Improved road alignment and sight distances
✅ Upgraded drainage, culverts and causeways
✅ Better resilience to flooding and wet weather

The project was funded through $3.186 million from the Australian Government, with $800,000 contributed by Parkes Shire Council.

It’s an investment that means safer, smoother and more reliable travel for the people, businesses and industries that rely on Bogan Road every day.

🚧ACCESS TRACK CLOSURE

The access track between Bumberry Dam and Lake Endeavour will be closed from Monday, 7 September to Friday, 27 November 2026 while essential upgrade works are undertaken.

Works will upgrade the track to support raw water main replacement works, including the construction of three creek crossings.

🚛 Increased construction traffic may be present in the area. Please follow all temporary signage and directions and take care around workers and vehicles.

As part of the Parkes Shire Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2025-2029, we're seeking feedback about the accessibility of Council-operated facilities, public spaces and services, including those in our villages.

We're inviting people living with disability, as well as family members, carers and service providers, to share their experiences accessing:
✅ Footpaths
✅ Public toilets
✅ Council-operated recreation, learning and leisure facilities
✅ Public spaces in Parkes Shire communities, including our villages

Your feedback will help identify accessibility barriers and guide future improvements, maintenance programs and capital works projects.

Two surveys are available:
• People living with disability
• Family members, carers and service providers

🌟 Meet Leanne, Parkes Shire Council's new Youth Officer!

With a passion for supporting young people and creating inclusive opportunities, Leanne will work alongside schools, community groups, sporting clubs and service providers to help young people connect, grow and have their voices heard across the Parkes Shire.

Made possible through a three-year partnership with Evolution Mining Northparkes Operations, which is funding the role, this exciting initiative is a significant investment in the future of our young people and our community.

"I am genuinely excited for the opportunity to bring young people from all backgrounds together as one," Leanne said.

🚧 Reminder: Lake Endeavour access track closure

A reminder that internal access tracks at Lake Endeavour will close from Monday, 7 September while pre-construction works are undertaken for the rebuild of the Lake Endeavour water pipeline.

The closure is expected to remain in place until Friday, 27 November 2026.

Council appreciates the community’s cooperation and patience while these important works are completed.
