🚨🏒 A Major Milestone for Community Safety in Parkes 🏒🚨

Parkes Shire Council is proud to celebrate the official opening of the new state-of-the-art Parkes SES Headquarters, providing local volunteers with one of the most advanced regional emergency service facilities in NSW.

Delivered through a significant investment from the Australian and NSW Governments, the purpose-built facility will strengthen emergency response, training, equipment storage and regional deployment capabilities for years to come.

Mayor Neil Westcott said the new headquarters represents a major investment in the safety, resilience and future of our community.

πŸ’¬ "Our SES volunteers play a vital role in protecting lives and supporting residents during emergencies. This new facility ensures they have the modern resources and operational capability they need to continue serving the Parkes Shire and surrounding region."

Council was proud to secure the funding, contribute the land, and manage the project through to completion, supporting the incredible work of our dedicated SES volunteers.

πŸ‘ Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this important community asset to life, and to our SES volunteers for their ongoing service and commitment to keeping our communities safe.

Did you know Australia still has an estimated 6 million tonnes of asbestos remaining in the built environment?

Many homes, sheds, fences and buildings constructed before 1990 may still contain asbestos materials. As these materials age and deteriorate, the risk of harmful asbestos fibres being released increases - especially when disturbed during renovations, storms, floods or bushfires.

Before starting any demolition, repairs or clean-up work, take the time to understand the risks and know where asbestos may be present.

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄ Shared Path Connection Works Commencing Soon

Parkes Shire Council will be undertaking footpath works at the northern end of Brolgan Road to complete the shared path connection between Mimosa Avenue and Link Road.

Works are scheduled to commence on Tuesday 10 June, weather permitting, and are expected to be completed by Friday 26 June.

Once complete, the project will help create a continuous shared path network linking key areas of Parkes, including the Newell Highway Bypass and the Special Activation Precinct, providing an approximately 20km loop for walkers, runners and cyclists to enjoy.

We thank residents for their patience while these works are carried out.
