HI Mums and Dads
Have your children entered our Book Week competition? Book week is over but our competition doesn't close until 18 September. If you have been to the Parkes Show it could be inspiration for drawings and stories for the competition. Students in K-6 are invited to write a short story or draw a picture with the theme "Symphony of stories".
Submit entries to [email protected] include your child's name, age, school, class, phone and email contact. Lovely prizes to be won.

Remember Abi Tucker from Play School, McLeodโ€™s Daughters, Heartbreak High and The Secret Life of Us? Sheโ€™s heading to the Parkes Shire these school holidays with a free puppet show full of music, laughs, mermaids and recycling fun!

๐ŸŽญ The Mermaidโ€™s Recycled Tail is a fun underwater adventure for families, preschool-aged children and up, exploring recycling and caring for our environment through puppets, songs and storytelling.

Meet Hester, the environmentally conscious puppet, along with a Trash puppet, Compost Monster, Fatberg and Arty Octopus! ๐Ÿ™

Here are some highlights happening at Parkes Shire Library during September:

๐Ÿ‘‰ School holiday activities for September/October programs open for bookings on Monday, 7 September via Humanitix, featuring a fun lineup focused on sustainability and creativity for school-aged library members!
๐Ÿ‘‰ Everyone is welcome to join us for the Connect the Dots launch on Saturday, 26 September from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bushman's Dam for music, dancing, games, and great food as we celebrate this new Social Cohesion project!
๐Ÿ‘‰ The first Maker Workshop of many starts on Thursday, 3 September in the Marramarra Makerspace, starting with Gravitrax Engineers on 3 and 10 September, followed by Junk That Jumps on 17 and 24 September featuring LEGO BricQ Motion kits and recycled vehicle builds, for just $5 per session with bookings essential via Humanitix!
๐Ÿ‘‰ Abi Tucker from ABCโ€™s Play School is touring the Parkes Shire with her interactive musical puppet show, The Mermaidโ€™s Tail, visiting the Cooke Park Pavilion in Parkes on Monday 28 September, before heading to the Marramarra Makerspace for a puppet-making workshop at 2:00 PM, Peak Hill on Tuesday 29 September at 10:30 AM, and Trundle on Tuesday 29 September at 2:00 PM, with all bookings essential via Humanitix!
