Parkes East Public School Parkes East PS provides a rich learning environment to enable students to experience success in their area of strength.

The School has a population of 306 pupils. Our community is very supportive of the school, with many parents involved in classroom teaching programs. We use a contemporary organisation related directly to the new curriculum statements released by the New South Wales Board of Studies. Special school features include high level computer networking, strong student welfare, academic and sporting progr

ams. To cater for individual pupil needs and outcomes our school community has embraced many of the beliefs of Outcome Based Education. Staff and parents plan actions to address the beliefs that all children can learn and succeed, that success breeds success, and that schools control the conditions for success. Staff, families and community work together to provide students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and experience needed to participate in our society. Our staff endeavour to provide education that is relevant to needs and aspirations of pupils, responsive to community expectations, effective in achievement of high quality educational programs and efficient in the use of resources.

RISE ABOVE SELF -Obie Medlyn

Obie is a valued member of the 3B classroom and the Parkes East Public School community. His eagerness to learn and friendly attitude brighten our days and help create a supportive and positive environment for all.
Obie demonstrates respect in everything he does. He speaks politely to his peers and teachers, always using his manners and encouraging others to reach their full potential. Whether in the classroom or on the playground, Obie welcomes everyone and makes sure others feel included.
Obie’s sense of responsibility shines through every day. He comes to school prepared for learning and proudly wears his uniform, including his broad brim hat outdoors. Obie showed dedication by attending netball training regularly and cheering on his teammates. He also assists with games, making sure rules are clear and that everyone plays fairly.
Safety is important to Obie. He follows staff instructions and helps those around him stay safe. Obie embraces new challenges with enthusiasm and puts his best effort into all learning areas.
Congratulations, Obie, on receiving the ‘Rise Above Self’ Award! Your positive attitude, helpfulness, and commitment to others inspire everyone in our school community.

6R and 5/6TG have been learning about electrical circuits in Science. Today, students conducted experiments to investigate which materials conduct electricity and which act as insulators. They made predictions, tested a range of everyday objects, recorded their observations, and discussed why some materials allowed electricity to flow while others did not.

Debating News
Congratulations to the Parkes East Parrots debaters who won their fourth debate, making it a clean sweep! Tom, Viviene, Freyja and Ryan did an amazing job of convincing the adjudicator that schools should teach Years 5 & 6 students how to use AI websites and programs. We were the affirmative. Given they won all four debates, there is a good chance they will be zone champions and will need to debate again against another zone champion. Best of luck!

Unfortunately, the Parkes East Penguin were unable to convince the adjudicator in their debate. Nikiaha, Laylah, Oliver and Emily had some good arguments. They were the negative team debating against schools should give Years 5 & 6 kids a weekly quiz about the news and current affairs. The Penguins have one more debate to finish the round. Best of luck!

The Canteen will be closed during lunch time (1.15-1.45pm) tomorrow.

All pre-ordered lunches for our Education Day Picnic and flexischools lunch orders will be delivered to classes as usual.
