The Ranelagh Hall and Community Group (RHCG) is holding its next quarterly meeting at 7.30pm on Thursday the 28th of May at the Ranelagh Memorial Hall, 40 Margeurite St Ranelagh. The meeting is open to all interested members of the public, and if you would like to apply for (free) membership, you can have your say and vote on decisions.
RHCG was formed in October 2025 to work in partnership with Huon Valley Council to promote community engagement and resilience in the Ranelagh area, with a particular focus on encouraging community use of the Ranelagh Hall. We have hosted two public events this year and have plans for more throughout the year. We also wish to encourage projects in the area that enhance community solidarity, safety and enjoyment. Please consider coming along to share some ideas. For more information, email Evan at [email protected].

Just a follow up on our community gathering at the Village Green on Sunday.

The weather gods were against us on Sunday, 1 February! Our hardy volunteer group struggled against squalls to erect a marquee on Ranelagh Green, but by 4pm the sun was out, and we had a good hour and a bit of fine and occasionally sunny weather to enjoy a sausage sizzle, a display of line dancing, hopscotch, quoits and a jellybean guessing competition.

Thanks to all who came out to celebrate some community spirit with us! As promised, the jelly bean official results are: Big Jar 467 (won by Becky with a guess of 501), and Small Jar 172 (won by Anton with a guess of 180).

It was great to have members of the Mosquito Point Landcare with us, as well as locals Sarah and Dan, who were getting lots of support for their idea of a community garden. We enjoyed having conversations with locals about Ranelagh, and heard some great suggestions for building a strong community in Ranelagh. These suggestions will go β€˜into the mix’ to think about as we set an agenda for 2026.

Anybody who would like to get involved with Ranelagh Hall & Community Group (RHCG) can contact us by email [email protected]. We have a meeting coming up, and would love to welcome new participants. If you would like to get in touch with the Landcare or Community Garden groups - or with the line dancing group that practices in Ranelagh Hall - you can also contact us by email, and we will put you in touch.

Many thanks
