During this week, SOI hosted its first event of the year, the SMA X-Country. The event was held to raise money for Legacy; an organisation that provides support to the partners and children of veterans. A huge thank you to Singleton Diggers, Defence Bank, and ASN for sponsoring the event, as well as to Defence Mental Health and Wellbeing for coming out and supporting the day.

The event was an incredible success, with the school raising over $3,000. Well done to WOPTI Amanda Robbie, who took out 1st place, completing the 8.4km course in 35 minutes.

Thank you again to our sponsors and everyone who contributed to such a fantastic event. We’ll see you at our next event, the Fitness Challenge 💪🏼

Over the period 23 March to 17 April 2026, the School of Infantry Sniper Team conducted a “Train the Trainer” activity to support the introduction into service of the L300 Sniper System.

The training involved 40 snipers from across the ADF attending the School of Infantry to achieve qualification and to complete trainer instruction on the new sniper system.

The activity also included specialist instruction from Accuracy 1st, who are internationally recognised leaders in sniper training and techniques, contributing to the enhanced capability and effectiveness of ADF snipers.
