On Saturday 10 of our volunteers completed their Advanced Resuscitation and first aid training.

This is the first step of moving forward in a major way for our brigade that will not only benefit our crew but also the service we can offer to you our community.

🚜 Is Your Farm Firefighting Vehicle Ready for Summer? 🔥

With forecasts pointing to a hot, dry summer, now is the time to make sure your on-farm firefighting equipment is ready before the fire season ramps up. 🔥🚜

Take a few minutes to check:
✅ Water tanks and pumps are operational
✅ Hoses and fittings are in good condition
✅ Your vehicle is mechanically sound
✅ Everyone who may use the unit knows how to operate it safely

Did you know that dedicated Farm Firefighting Vehicles (FFVs) may be eligible for conditional registration?

Conditional registration allows eligible, dedicated firefighting vehicles (including trailers) to be driven on public roads for emergency bushfire response only. To be eligible, the vehicle must have permanently attached firefighting equipment and meet the applicable registration and inspection requirements. If you intend to use the vehicle for general farm activities or as a harvest fire precaution on public roads, you'll need the appropriate general or seasonal registration instead.

Being prepared before the first fire starts could make all the difference for your property, your neighbours and your community.

🔥 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧? 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 🔥

The Riverina Zone has seen an increase in Triple Zero (000) calls to burns that have not been notified. When a burn has not been notified, responding crews have no way of knowing whether it is a planned burn or an uncontrolled fire. As a result, these fires are treated as a fire until proven otherwise and may be subject to enforcement action.

Failure to notify a burn can result in on-the-spot fines starting from $1,100, in addition to the unnecessary deployment of emergency services.

Before you light up:

✅ 𝟏. 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐒𝐖 𝐑𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞
Visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify at least 24 hours before your planned burn and complete the online notification form.

You will need to provide:
• Your name and contact details
• The property address where the burn will take place
• Your planned start date and expected finish date
• The purpose of the burn (e.g. pile burn, stubble burn, agricultural burn, land clearing or hazard reduction)

⚠️ Make sure you read and accept all conditions before submitting your notification.

✅ 𝟐. 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬
At least 24 hours before your burn, advise all adjoining landholders, including neighbours across the road.

Before lighting your fire, check the latest weather forecast and Fire Danger Rating to ensure conditions are safe and suitable.

🚒 Notifying your neighbours of your burn helps prevent unnecessary 000 calls, reduces emergency responses to planned burns, and helps keep firefighters available for genuine emergencies.

If in doubt, ask before you light up.

Agricultural burn

Agricultural burn taking place today 6fh Aug.
This burn is taking place south of the village and will be visible from Oxley Bridge Rd, Old Station Rd and the Olympic Hwy and will be monitored by the property owners.

Structure Fire

Tonight around 2150 hrs Uranquinty, The Rock, Yarragundry, Lake Albert RFBs along with FRNSW, NSW Ambulance responded to reports of a structure fire in our village.

On arrival residents had self evacuated and advised a fire had occurred. Crews investigated and found no fire extension and deemed the building safe.

This is the second call in the past week to fires involving slow combustion fires that the occupants were alerted by working smoke alarms.

Please take the time to maintain your wood fires and remember 1 metre from the heater rule.

Thankfully no injuries or damage.

Reminder: A national emergency alert system test will take place on Monday 27 July 2026.

You will receive a test message and hear a loud alert sound on your phone at 1400hrs - no action is required.

The system is being developed by the Commonwealth Government, offering another warning tool for emergency services to use during natural disasters and emergencies.

On Monday 27 July 2026, a test Critical Alert will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia.The alert will override 'silent' and 'do not disturb' device settings. It will appear like a system notification on screens and make a loud siren sound for 10 seconds.

Structure fire calls

At around 1230 The Rock, Uranquinty, Yarragundry, Lake Albert RFB’s and Fire Rescue all responded to a report of a fire at The Kings Own The Rock.
On arrival smoke was showing to the rear of the structure. It was soon found to be a pile of green waste and other items alight. Police attended and spoke to a person on the premises.

At around 11pm Uranquinty, The Rock, Yarragundry RFB’s and Fire Rescue all responded to a report of a structure fire in Uranquinty. Crews arrived quickly and found a fire had occurred due to an electrical fault. Crews from Uranquinty made the area safe with assistance from Fire and Rescue. Thankfully the occupants had working smoke alarms and damage was very minimal.

Fire Call Incident Report

At 1430 hours, we received a notification of a truck fire on Olympic Highway.

Smoke was visible from the station, prompting a request for additional appliances.

Uranquinty initiated an attack on the fire, successfully containing its spread.

Fire and Rescue NSW Station 472 Turvey Park and Yarragundry RFB arrived shortly thereafter, providing water supply and Breathing Apparatus crews to support the ongoing attack, suppression, and prevention of fire spread to trailers transporting fertiliser.

All crews demonstrated effective collaboration and mutual support.

To ensure firefighter safety, the highway was temporarily closed, with diversions implemented for a brief period.
