In case you missed it on WGAL...

The Rotary Club of Mount Joy's Malmedy Memorial project is now complete and will soon be dedicated, creating a lasting tribute to the victims and survivors of the Malmedy Massacre, including Mount Joy resident Harold Billow, the last known survivor of the tragedy.

Watch the WGAL story to learn more about the memorial and the history it honors.

The Rotary Club of Mount Joy will dedicate a memorial this Sunday in Lancaster County to honor 11 local soldiers who fought in the Malmedy massacre.

Mount Joy has a lot of banners that are fading or damaged and need to be replaced. Wouldn't it be nice to replace these banners before July 4th, the 250th anniversary of the United States? Unfortunately, we do not have contact information for some of the people that sponsored these banners. If you know the family of one of these Hometown Heros and the banners are faded, can you let that family know that the banner can be replaced? Maybe a banner near your home or business is faded and damaged. Anyone can donate money toward replacing a banner. Help us by sharing this post.

We’re proud to share that Mount Joy Borough has received state funding to purchase new AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) to help strengthen public safety in our community. ❤️

These life-saving devices will be installed in key public locations to help improve emergency response when every second counts.

Thank you to our local and state partners for supporting investments that make Mount Joy a safer place to live, work, and visit.

State Sen. James Malone (D-Lancaster) presented borough officials with a ceremonial check for $47,000 on Wednesday, which will go towards buying the devices.

🏫 Explore the History of a One-Room Schoolhouse – June 15

Join the Mount Joy Area Historical Society on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Cemetery Road Schoolhouse (120 Fairview Street, Mount Joy) for a fascinating presentation by Mary Nolt.

Drawing from extensive historical research, Mary will share the story of the Rock Point Road School in East Donegal Township, tracing its origins in the mid-1850s through its closure in 1928. Learn about the common school movement in Lancaster County, daily life in a one-room schoolhouse, spelling bees, winter class trips, and the strong sense of community these schools helped create.

🫖 Refreshments and museum tours follow the program.
📅 Free and open to the public (donations appreciated).

The Historical Society Museum is open every Sunday from 1–4 p.m. Learn more at mountjoyhistory.com and follow the Society on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
