Murrindindi Shire - Ongoing impact of January 2026 Bushfires
🎥Watch Video

Today we've issued a video which shows the true impact of the January 2026 bushfires, from homes and farms lost to widespread damage across roads, infrastructure and local businesses.

Murrindindi experienced close to half of the State’s structural losses yet has received only around 8% of recovery funding for councils.

This highlights the need for a more equitable, impact-based approach to disaster recovery funding.

Please be aware, this video contains images and footage of bushfire impacts that may be distressing for some viewers.

Watch the video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V9wiKI0haU and learn more about why funding reform matters for communities like ours.

Thinking about building your future in regional Australia? The Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs) may offer a pathway worth exploring.

These agreements give regional employers access to a wider range of occupations and provide skilled and semi-skilled workers with more flexible migration options.

DAMA pathways are employer-driven, region-specific, and designed to address real workforce needs. If you have an employer willing to sponsor you and your occupation is included in a participating region, this could be a strong route forward.

Curious about how it works and whether your occupation is assessed by VETASSESS? Learn more: https://www.vetassess.com.au/skills-assessment-for-migration/designated-area-migration-agreements-dama
